We were originally going to do a full review for this movie, but it'll be too much for us since we're working on the best of '08. I have to say before this was getting positive reviews and Oscar talk, I thought this film looked completely stupid. I mean just look at the teaser. It virtually gives us no info and that's the only trailer I saw before I saw the TV ads. This movie only started appealing to me after the TV ads, Oscar talk, positive reviews, AND when I found out David Fincher (director of Zodiac, Panic Room, and Se7en) was directing this film. I just LOVE Fincher's work. He is truly my favorite director. After watching this film, I wish that I never doubted it. I LOVED this film. No, it isn't better than Zodiac, my favorite of Fincher's films, but it's probably up there. The acting is spectacular, the effects in this movie are AMAZING, and there isn't one bit of bad dialogue in this film. I don't know about you guys, but this reminded me of a whole lot of Forrest Gump, one of my favorites of all time. The parts where it's going through his whole life, war, and trying to get the girl that's too good for them. Also the charm of both characters, Forrest and Benjamin is also similar. The bad parts about this movie are the sex scenes, they didn't seem to fit, and Cate Blanchett's character. I don't know why, but I find her very unlikable and physically unattractive. When she's in Benjamin's life, it does kind of slow down the film as well. I don't know why he would fall for a woman like that. The ending was very sad, but it was a great ending! Overall, fantastic movie that was slow at parts, but none the less is entertaining.
I give The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, 5/5
