I made this into a blog because as a comment it was starting to get long.
The Crow was one of those movies that I really enjoyed growing up, as strange as that sounds, since anything horror related is something
I can't deal with.
I don't even want to give
this remake a chance. Before even hearing
anything about it I didn't want to give it a chance. And, not surprisingly, now that I have, I still don't want to. Maybe the reviews will be glowing and I'll think "oh, maybe I should check it out," but in the end, I won't. I'll stop wondering/caring about this remake the moment I close this window and I won't think about it again until it comes out or there is more news about it... and then I'll go through the same process.
I guess I feel about this the same way I felt about the
Star Wars Prequels. "What? Prequels to the originals? Meh. Unnecessary. What are we having for supper?" Then again, I was a teenager when the prequels came out... and I found
The Phantom Menace slightly enjoyable (I was 12, gimme a break). My dad took me to it when it came out. Hell, dad and I even went to the
rerelease of A New Hope and I enjoyed it, since I hadn't existed when they originally came out in theaters. Granted that when
Attack of the Clones came out I was so bored that I almost fell asleep; something that has rarely, if ever, happened to me before. To this day I don't think I've seen all of
Revenge of the Sith, but... I digress.
Overall, I don't care about this remake much, though apparently enough to make a blog post about it. I think it's a little tasteless, given how
Brandon Lee died making the original, but it isn't the most tasteless, unnecessary thing that has come out of Hollywood in recent years. (i.e. any film by
these idiots)
