For what it's worth, here's our Animators' review (go to about 3min in to skip the skit). There's also a bit of discussion on what's going on with Dreamworks' layoffs and the VFX situation right now
Comment by Josh Truff on March 26, 2013 at 1:46pm Went to see the movie last weekend. I was visiting my mom and sister and she wanted to see it and I'm glad she did, you can't ask for a better family animated film. Visuals and design were amazing, 3d was really good and never interfered with the movie, a meaningful and powerful ending that made my eyes water. It wasn't perfect I think the sloth could of had some funnier lines I didn't really understand the duh duh daaaaaaaa it felt out of place. All the voices worked well and its easy to forget who is actually talking and just see the characters. The way the film works is that it starts slow and then builds and builds and builds until the end and everything that needs to be said is said. I recommend seeing this film if you want to be entertained you can definitely tell the spill crew liked it too.
Comment by doubtfulhenry on March 25, 2013 at 7:09am Emma stone's way too stylized to actually be attractive to me in this...
Comment by Jon on March 24, 2013 at 4:19pm this got 67% on RottenTomatoes which I agree with: 'While it may not be as (ahem) evolved as the best modern animated fare, The Croods will prove solidly entertaining for families seeking a fast-paced, funny cartoon adventure.'
it's not really up there with the most original stories in animated films but it's still a really fun children's movie
to be honest I wasn't laughing through most of this movie and its comedy but it got to me near the 3rd act
all of these characters are likeable minus 1 and as cavemen are completely clueless
the movie is amazingly animated from the landscapes to the animals and it's very action-packed to say the least
Emma Stone is pretty much playing Emma Stone being the cavegirl who wants to break the routine from her family yada yada...everything we've seen a billion times over
it would be nice though that they would explain what these creatures are instead of doing it ourselves from the merchandise and it's pretty stupid trying to believe that these kinds of early people can think and utilize these modern ideas and concepts at this point in time
that damn little cavegirl, Sandy was getting on my nerves so much I wanted to punch her
I prefer these other people to care about such as the wise-cracking grandmother by Cloris Leachman
does a cool job too of expanding our minds and teamwork
good watch just nothing spectacular
Comment by TimZ on March 23, 2013 at 3:41am I haven't been disappointed in a Dreamworks animated film in years. They overtook Pixar a long time ago.
Comment by Donwun on March 23, 2013 at 12:19am damn i called this one before even seeing it. looking forward to it. Good fun review
As for Cloudy 2, Monsters Uni & Despicable Me 2, urg they all look terrible from their trailers
Comment by Santos on March 22, 2013 at 10:13pm This sounds like the kids' version of Quest For Fire.
