The Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day **1/2 out of **** Spill Rating: MATINEE!

"Who ordered the whoop-ass fajitas?"

The Boondock Saints was a flop in theaters but found a massive audience on DVD, making over $50 million in sales. Now a decade later, Troy Duffy returns to helm the sequel, All Saints Day. I wasn't a fan of the the first film but there were many great scenes in there.

The sequel improves on the original in many ways. First of all, this film recognizes that its just a B-grade action movie, it doesn't try to throw in any deep messages like the first one. Secondly, the film actually has an actual driving force. This time, there is a reason that the Saints are killing instead of some bull#$% "God wants us to do this" reason. Lastly, the film is almost a comedy. The first film had some humorous scenes but here, there is a nice balance between action and comedy.

For the last 8 years the brothers have been living with their father on a sheep farm deep in isolated Ireland. One day their uncle tells them that they have been framed for the murder of a Bostonian Catholic priest. The boys must return to Boston to not only clear their names but find the men who framed them.

This sounds just like 10,000 other action films but it isn't harmed by that. Unlike the first Saints, the film has a decisive beginning, middle, and end. The first Saints ended in a way that had me wanting a lot more. I know many people will disagree with me on my opinion of the first film but that's how I feel.

If you did not like the first Boondocks, you will not like this. This is everything in the first film increased tenfold. The violence, over-the-top acting and action are completely ridiculous but it makes the film fun. The Saints' sidekick, Romeo, is one of the funniest characters of the year and the film lights up every time he's on screen. The same goes for Billy Connolly as the Saints' father.

If there is one character in here that left me scratching my head, its Julie Benz as FBI Agent Eunice Bloom. (Replacing Willem Dafoe) Sporting red hair, high heels, and one of the fakest Southern accents in film history, she's one of the most over-the-top characters ever. That's a lot to say considering Willem Dafoe was a gay FBI agent who likes to dance to opera music in crime scenes. Benz also recreates the crime scenes like Willem Dafoe but in one instance, she's in a cowgirl outfit dancing around like she's a stripper.

There is nothing here for regular movie-goers but if you liked the first film, this is like a present from God.
