The "Batman 3" Announcement Slips Out at Comic Con
Hey guys, I'm sitting here in the Warner Brothers panel showing all their upcoming films, something of which I'll report more about later, but I had to dive in to give you a bit of news you ALL have been waiting for.
There was a bit about the new film from the Hughes Brothers, "The Book of Eli" with the cast in attendance including Gary Oldman in his first ever Comic Con appearance. The shocker was, in response to a question, Oldman, in a moment that felt like somebody somewhere is going "AW CRAP, OLDMAN SPILLED THE BEANS", said that the new Batman film starts filming next year. So there it is. As far as I know, that's the first formal acknowledgment that the third movie is underway. You may now proceed to freak out and go back to contemplating who's going to play whatever villain you think is going to be in it. Because we all know you're gonna do it anyway.

I'm cool with any villian (I know that Nolan said that the Penguin would be tricky to pull off). I think the Riddler would work well, since his actions could be as crazy as Joker's was (not as psycho but as complicated). And I like the idea of an intellectual foe that really challenges Batman. People have mentioned Bane and Killer Croc and that would be cool to. I'd love to see an badass intense fight like the mud pit scene in Dark Knight Returns. I remember from a while back, there was a discussion in the League Lounge with one member (you know who you are) who thought that Black Mask, Hush, and Dr. Hugo Strange should be in this, so that brings some discussion to the table. It is fun to speculate, but I know Nolan will do the right thing (and I hope to the highest level that he does decide to come back). Also, I don't think Johnny Depp should be The Riddler. You need a good actor that not a lot people recognize or something like that. Ledger got written off when he was first announced and look what happened there. Someone who has expressed interest in the role and who looks the part is David Tennant from Dr. Who.
Oh and Mr. Me, if they ever did a revival of the 60's Batman TV Show, Shia LaBeouf would be my #1 choice as Robin.
