The first trailer for the true-story drama 'The Bang Bang Club' has just been released. The film follows Ryan Phillippe, Malin Akerman, Frank Rautenbach, Neels Van Jaasved and Taylor Kitsch as combat photographers who risk their lives to take photos of the violence-filled first free elections in post-Apartheid South Africa:
The film focuses on the thrills, danger and moral questions associated with exposing the truth and getting the best picture while they're at it. Two of the photographers portrayed in the film received Pulitzers for their work during the once-in-a-lifetime event.
'The Bang Bang Club' arrives in theaters April 22nd.

Comment by Patrick on March 23, 2011 at 3:02pm Combat Photogs are some of the ballsiest guys on this planet. Going into conflict zones armed with a camera and often little to no protection from violence in order to bring the world to your eyes. About time a movie explores that.
Kevin Carter's Pulitzer-winning photograph is unbelievable... yet sadly too real.

Comment by CHEEZYSPAM on March 22, 2011 at 3:40pm I looked up info on Wikipedia and apparently the people portrayed in the movie actually had a photography club called "the Bang-Bang Club" from which the movie got it's title.
Very interesting
Comment by CHEEZYSPAM on March 22, 2011 at 3:32pm I was not expecting to get so pulled in by that trailer. Especially for a movie I had never heard of.
I like the idea and the story is pretty original in the context of all the other war-like movies recently.
It kinda has a Blood Diamond feel to it for me... maybe not. I'm looking forward to it.
Expecting the sequel: the Bang Bang Club 2: TMZ in Hollywood
Starring Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan, Charlie Sheen & Kim Kardashian.

His name was Kevin Carter and yes, he killed himself. It's unclear why but he was very depressed and had a problem with drugs after a colleague and friend of his was killed while covering a war in Africa. He had also recently botched a project he was doing for Time magazine.
