I believe the first step of anything is probably the single most important part of it, because it is a taste of whats to come, it stablishes a tone and hints of the path to follow, it can surely be changed, but when changed to improve, the cause of the change can often be tracked down to the beggining. So to start off this blog I chose a movie that represents and embodies everything I like about the tipe of films I enjoy most, the B movies.

You don´t have to watch it twice to realize some of the problems a movie like this has eg. terrible acting, senseless plot, less than perfect lighting and sound recording. But you can´t watch these tipe of movies with high expectations of the things mentioned above, because you´ll be terribly disapointed, you watch them to have fun, it just isn´t fair to pick on the slow kid, or the poor one.

The Atomic Brain just doesn´t stand or has a chance when compared to recent ( or any kind of ) standards. Having said that I really liked the movie, it has more wrongs than rights, that´s a given, but many of those wrongs make it somewhat adorable in my opinion.

The movie starts off with a 7 minute narration of the premise, it has no dialoge whatsoever in those 7 minutes, and introduces 4 out of the 7 characters in the movie, if there´s something good I can say about it is that it is well paced and sucks you right in, 2 out of the 3 main girls are likeable enough for you to be at least a little worried about what´s going to happen to them, the one I found the least likeable is the one that is quickly knocked off and turned into ( literally ) an animal, she´s nothing but a plot device placed sloppily so the main girl can uncover the already explained ( by the narrator) ¨mystery¨, the muscle of the whole Miss March operation ( the before mentioned monster/human/dog helper ) is shown only when convenient and doesnt really serve a porpuse besides keeping the girls in the house without the option of leaving, even when they discuss the option of escaping it presents no threat to them that there´s a dumb monster outside waiting for them as they plan getting throught him without any problem, and that´s not the only thing brought up only when convenient as the movie pulls a major deus ex machina dealing with one of the girls ( supposed )blindness, these kind of desbelief suspensions were almost too much for me, even when compared to the bullshit science the movie holds central to its premise, so I had to remind myself what kind of movie I was watching in order to pull me together and enjoy it for what it is, by doing exactly that I was able to chuckle at the Scooby-doo esque music and sequencess, the hillarious final close up to a cat´s evil eyes and the fact that the thing that end´s up becoming Miss March doom is her own bitchiness towards everyone else in the house.

B movies in general are not quality movies by any stretch of the imagination but if you´re able to put your judgements and standards aside and just say fuck it, I´ll have fun you may find a good time watching them, like I do, only if you´re able to do that I´d recommend finding and watching The Atomic Brain I promise you wont be dissapointed. Having said that I  must say goodbye dear reader.
