Having seen the movie last night, I can say that while it wasn't terrible, it was still disappointing after all of the hype. Generally speaking, I prefer Family Guy to this due mainly to running time. In a TV sitcom, it's easier to get by with a load of random potentially offensive jokes because the brisk 30 minutes allows for more hits than misses. In this feature length movie there are still quite a few hits, but the misses stand out much more. I think where Ted really succeeds is in Ted himself and filmmakers' ability to get you to accept this stuffed animal as an actual character. Plus, the fight scene deserves to go down as one of the funniest moments in movie history.

Btw, did the scene where Ted visits Mila Kunis' character to make amends remind anybody of a certain scene from The Fighter which is another movie starring Mark Wahlberg as a guy with a screw up companion and a girlfriend who wants the friend and/or family member to hit the road?

Chances are if you’re a fan of Seth Macfarlane’s wildly juvenile but undeniably funny brand of humor then you’re probably in the target demo for Ted. Conversely, those of you into cerebral subject matter and layered exposition need not apply. With that established, Ted is what we get when a guy like Macfarlane secures a big budget and an R-rating. Put aside the ridiculous premise (and forced 1980‘s references), what we have here is an entertaining, semi-satirical bro-mantic comedy about a man and his bear. At its core, Ted has heart and is unexpectedly moving at times. Its a story about adolescence and never wanting to grow up because reality seems more like an intrusion than anything else. Macfarlane directs and voices…wait for it…the title character,Ted, an obnoxious yet loyal weed smoking-mischief-making-fornicator. Mark Wahlberg is solid as the straight man, a chronic-underachieving stoner in his mid-thirties who’d rather ditch work to get high with his childhood teddybear magically come-to-life than make time with his girlfriend played by the passionless, Mila Kunis. Predictably, hijinks ensues when Wahlberg must choose between his ‘thunder buddy’ for life and the love of his life. Detractors of Family Guy won’t be converted but fans will bearhug this flawed yet funny film.

I expected to love this movie, but was shocked with how much I hated it. I laughed three times the whole movie and the plot took itself too seriously and was too predictable. I actually liked where they were going with it at the end, but the final twist was some serious crap. Maybe it is because I was born in 1991 and didn't get all the 80s references, but this movie is a Some 'Ol Bullshit for me. Which sucks because I'm a MacFarlane fan and I wanted to like this.

 This movie was funnier then I thought it would be. Unlike some people I'm still a fan of family guy and never get tired  of the 80s references. And this may be a spoiler but it had that dude from flash gordon  in it !!! LOL that was a nice surprise. I could totally  relate to that because one time a friend called me to hang out and the next i know I was standing in someones backyard cheering on a white t-shirt contest. So i can wait to watch Ted again 1!!

i now want to watch this movie , but sense co host even admitted he stop caring past season 4 of family guy , im now worried a little , because i watched every season , and it been getting worse and worse , but ill take your word for it , and ill try to watch it , by the sounds of it , it not as bad as the new season , so ill give it a shot

I saw it tonight, and was worried about it at first like Co-host said about pretty much giving up on it after the first 4 seasons...I did a while ago, I just lost interest. but I ended up feeling like it worked for the most part. I agree with all you guys on multiple things. For me though, it was like an hour and 1/2 live sitcom version of family guy. and although it had plenty of humor, the chemistry between the characters was the biggest surprise for me.

I walked out saying "thats the closest ill get to seeing an R-Rated Toy Story" (not that I'd normally want to). I almost wanted to give this a matinee because of some uneven parts and hit and miss jokes..but I ended up getting most of what I wanted from it, plus characters that make more sense than some other current comedies, so my heart leaned more towards full price.

After hearing this review though...im glad to see that the ratings went went from Rental to Full Price, only because I kept going back and forth between how much I liked this movie, and whether it should be seen on a big screen or not.
