Tarantino to Direct a Spaghetti Western?

Source: AICN

Quentin Tarantino's next project after his hit film 'Inglourious Basterds'? Apparently, it may be an old-school Spaghetti Western.

In a translated version an interview with Italian news site Movie Player, actor Franco Nero reported that they are trying to start production on "The Angel, The Bad and The Wise" outside of Italy soon. According to Nero, the movie could also star Keith Carradine and Treat Williams.

However, AICN picked up the story and turned to their Hollywood "sources" who claim the film may also once again feature 'Basterds' star Christopher Waltz (who played "The Jew Hunter" Col. Hans Lander). Their "sources" also claim that filming is planned for later this year in Spain and Italy and that the title of the film has been poorly translated from the Italian article, so it may be entirely different. At this point, much of this is guesswork and speculation, but what do you think? Is Tarantino the right person to be helming a western?

He was in a Japanese Spaghetti Western, so I'm pretty sure this will do just fine.

Well of course he would. He isn't content making terrible movies anymore, he has to make terrible movies of all different styles and genres.

All of his movies have spaghetti western themes, so why not just direct a western?
Comment by Quicksandbuddy on March 2, 2011 at 3:17pm
Aren't all his movies basically spaghetti westerns?

I don't know if it'd be any good, but I'd give it a chance.

I'm a QT fan, so I think this is a good idea. Tarantino really knows how to handle a genre piece, and while some people might have found Grindhouse to be a little too pretentious, I still had fun with it. Also, to see Christoph Waltz play a character like Angel Eyes would be downright badass.

I'll believe it when I'm walking out of the Theatre saying "It was okay"

HAH love that pic. After Inglorious Basterds, I'm excited to see what Tarantino will do next. I say go for the Spaghetti Western. We haven't had one in so long. Just don't fuck it up.
