I have to say thank you Bullfrog Productions because this was one of the most fun first person shooter I’ve played in a while. This game does something that no Call of Duty, Battlefield or any other shooter. That is having new and innovative gameplay. Not once did I feel like I was just going through the motions of traditional shooters.
Story- You play as Kilo a Euro Corp Agent in the year 2069. You start out doing anything the company wants; by doing assassinations or stealing from rival companies. Ok the story is so generic once you see the characters you can do this. Team up with this person, have to take out this guy and final fight with this person. That is very disappointing, if you want to know what this game is a lot alike watch Equilibrium sadly that is how uncreative the games story is. The ending is set up to where they could make a sequel if they wanted or just end it.
Graphics- Graphically the game is a good looking game. But like every dystopian future ran by corporations all you ever see are slums at night or metal walls in a metal building. Majority of the game is in like office buildings. Another problem is the light is extremely harsh. Any bright light or light at all is just so bright you literally have a hard time seeing. The gore is so great in this game that Australia was going to band the game and they ended up making this game with an Adults only rating.
Sound- Most of the games soundtrack is extremely bland like any other game. That changes when you hit your first boss fight, then bam you get this kick ass dub step playing, it was awesome but only in that one part of the game and the credits. My personal favorite was the voice acting by Brian Cox who plays the evil head honcho of Euro Corp and the satisfying neck breaking sound every time you break someone’s neck.
Gameplay- This is where the game truly shines, the game has everything from weapons that lock onto targets to an actual melee system. The weapons are generic for the most part you have sniper, machine gun, shotgun, and pistol. But you get the very useful auto lock on machine gun and mini gun that will rip guys in half. Then instead of using the butt of your gun or a knife for melee you use Kung Fu. Think of Jason Bourne type moves incorporated into a FPS, best melee ever. The most useful and I’d have to say original part of the game has to be the Dart system. Using this you can hack turrets to shoot enemies, take out shields make a guy kill himself. Yes you read that right you can make a guy kill himself, but wait it gets better you get an ability to make a guy kill his partners then himself and you didn’t have to do shit. I also love the fact they have boss fights in this game, very few FPS now in days do this and call me strange but I do love me some boss fights. Every boss fight you have to use your Dart system differently it is so great. The game is challenging but not overbearing, on normal which is the only way you get the achievements. They did introduce four player Co-op which originally I thought was just horde mode but they have you doing actual missions which was pretty cool.
Overall this is a fun game the story was kind of lame, sound mostly generic, graphics decent, and gameplay awesome. There wasn’t much to do beside the story and the Co-op and the story is only like 8 hours long so I have to say buy it used. The game is not worth full price but for 30 bucks go nuts I guarantee you’ll have a blast. That was Syndicate Review from your Captain in video game Captain Magnifico.
