Superhero Stories Assemble!"

Not to be outdone by the recent dearth of bat-pics, several new images and videos have turned up around the internet from 'The Avengers', currently filming in Cleveland. East 9th street in Cleveland (made up to look like east 42nd Street in New York) was the site of an explosive scene that took out all the cars on the road and had police extras firing into the sky, then abandoning their squad cars (maybe at invaders from beyond? Giant robot attackers? Who knows?). Needless to say we can expect some great action when the film comes out on May 4th, 2012:
We've also got your first glimpse at a fight scene between Captain America (well, Captain America's stuntman, to be precise) and two CG attackers (the actors in grey are wearing full motion capture suits). Could this mean that the rumors of a Skrull invasion are true? Maybe another alien race? Loki and an army of goblins from one of the other nine realms? At this point, your guess is as good as ours:
Also appearing on set was actor Chris Evans in the first images of him in the full Captain America costume, as well as in civvies as Steve Rogers:

Of course, that's not to say that the fan frenzy around 'The Dark Knight Rises' has waned at all. Still filming the same chase scene in which the new Bat-copter is released, actress Anne Hathaway was caught on set preparing for her close-ups in the Catwoman outfit. Tight, form-fitting costume? Check. Opera gloves? Check. High heeled thigh-high boots? Check. The only thing missing is the iconic cat-cowl and goggles, and reports say that they will appear in the film (just not in this particular scene):
There are also new pics of Tom Hardy as the villain Bane (taken during the recent scenes at Heinz Field where Bane interrupts a Gotham Rogues game to threaten Gotham with a large and unidentified device) and a captured still of a recent accident on set where the Bat-copter forcefully collided with a Pittsburgh street lamp and had to be repaired for over an hour before filming could resume (see the video HERE for the full story):

And lasly, we have two strange new development from Zack Snyder's forthcoming 'Man of Steel'. The first is that, according to TMT, Warner Bros. Pictures is quietly developing a possible Batman/Superman crossover film and courting both Christian Bale and Henry Cavill to reprise their roles for the project. They report that currently, two different versions of the film are being worked on - one in which Cavill's Superman is mentored by Bale's more-experienced Batman, another in which the roles are reversed and Batman is pulled from the shadows by Superman to become a larger-than-life hero. WB has previously stated a large interest in a future Justice League film (with a rebooted bat-franchise since Nolan and Bale both would prefer to move on after 'The Dark Knight Rises), but with Green Lantern's underwhelming box office numbers and a decreased interest in a film based on The Flash, any future plans for crossover films may be in a holding pattern until 'Man of Steel' is released.
The second development is that in addition to the first ever embossed super-suit, and the first African-American Perry White, Snyder's film will also feature the very first red-headed Lois Lane. Rather than dying her hair for the typically brunette role, Amy Adams (who plays Lois in the film) will instead sport her regular red locks. Taken during filming in Plano, IL (which is doubling as Clark Kent's hometown of Smallville, Kansas), the following shot has Lois filling up at a local 7-11 (hellooooo product placement!) which will later be the site of a massive explosion (bystanders were alerted to stay back, and set reports confirm that the location is rigged with pyrotechnics and explosives). There is no news on what kind of catastrophe causes the explosions, but you can probably guess who swoops in to save the day:
Until next time!

Comment by Nightshadow on August 18, 2011 at 1:15pm Okay usually I don't bother to comment but everytime I see something about this new Man of Steel movie I get more and more nervous. Granted I'm more of a Batman fan, but I grew up with the Christopher Reeve movies. This to me is the last straw. Really Adams? You didn't wanna ruin your red mane or something? It's already been officially stated you're not even a real red head, would it have killed you to dye it brown? For God's sake even Kate Bosworth was willing to dye her famous California golden locks! And I hate you for making me defend that hack of an actress!
Plus I'm still not buying that this will be a good movie regardless. Snyder has only made one good movie to me and that was Dawn of the Dead. 300, Watchmen, and Sucker Punch were boring, strewn-out messes. Fine to be fair I never saw Legend of the Guardians and I never plan to, but still he has THREE terrible movies under his belt. I have very low expectations for this film.

I my only problem with caps suit and its more of a functional issue is the ears seem to be covered. I love that it opens in the front too
But Lex Luthor with a GIANT AFRO would be awesome and it would catch Superman Completely Off Guard

*sigh* - Looks like I have to be that guy again...
Cap's suit? Awesome. They took the basic look of the comics and adapted it into real world materials in a way that makes sense and works. I friggin' LOVE how they made it like a jacket kind of thing that opens in the front, and all the design elements that are there are there for a reason. At first I didn't like the silver parts on the shoulder, but once Evans puts it on, they make sense: it emphasizes his shoulders and makes him look much more broad chested than he really is (same goes for the two different shades of blue on the suit - it emphasizes his muscles and makes him look more fit). I mean, Evans got in shape for the film but let's face it, he's no Chris Hemsworth.
I think the only parts I'm not fond of are the blue belt (should have been regular brown or black like the comics - it's an important distinction from the torso to the waist and right now it kind of looks like his pants are up too high) and the helmet. I don't know why they'd want to cover his ears again (seems like Cap would be someone who wouldn't want his hearing in battle impaired) and the wings. Yes, I know... "oh the wings would look stupid! AAR!" No, if done right they really wouldn't. The painted ones are ok (the side pic looks good), but having wings on the mask breaks up the "blue dome" shape of it and is an important visual cue (Cap was designed to look like a modern version of a knight). If they'd just slightly embossed them outwards, or done something cool with them (like maybe making them an audio linkup or something) it would have looked great.
Other than that - it's Cap. That's him, right there. Pulled from the pages of the comic. "Faithful to the source material" is the first thing that comes to mind, and that's what you should be doing with these films. It worked for Iron Man, it worked for Thor.
TDKR - Damn that's a lot of set footage. The Catwoman suit looks great (also just like the comics) and I can't wait to see what she looks like with the hood on.
Man of Steel - Dude... really? You can't drop a couple of bucks and just dye her damn hair? REALLY? What's next? Perhaps Lex Luthor with a giant afro? Way to advertise for 7-11 though....

I see what you mean but it's not that simple! Zack Snyder has made a lot of mistakes over the years, it's not easy to explain in a one paragraph though! :(
