If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Nick Herring posted a status"And there came a day, a day unlike any other, when several superhero stories found themselves united in a single article. On that day, 'Superhero Stories' was born - to contain the film and TV news no single blog post could withstand! Heed the call, then - for now...
Superhero Stories Assemble!"

The final tumblers are falling into place for the upcoming 'Superman: Man of Steel' with the role of Lois Lane going to... Amy Adams? Wait, that can't be right. Hold on... *runs to double-check*... Okay, yes. Amy Adams. *shrug*
While she's not exactly the kind of pushy, hard-nosed journalist type I think we expected in the role, she is rather cute and has made a career out of playing the romantic interest in films. At the very least, she's no "hi, I'm just going to sit here and look mournful" Kate Bosworth, so we're already one step ahead of the last outing.
While it wasn't clear if Lois was even going to be in the new film (which is apparently somewhat of a precursor to his adventures in Metropolis), Warner Bros and director Zack Snyder pursued a variety of actresses for the role, but were immediately impressed with Adams after their first meeting with her.
Snyder remarked:
So there you have it. We have Pa and Ma Kent (Kevin Costner and Diane Lane, respectively), Superman (Henry Cavill), and now Lois Lane (Amy Adams). Really the only thing left is to find out who "Big Blue" is going to be fighting in the film. I hear that Viggo Mortensen just dropped "Snow White and the Huntsmen" and his schedule is open...

In a recent interview, Absolute Radio caught up with Commissioner Gordon actor Gary Oldman, who tried his best to coyly comment on the film without giving too much away. The actor effused, "it's great, really great story, really great script, [Nolan]'s outdone himself". Among mentions of working with actor Tom Hardy (watch how he masterfully tries to gauge how much he should say about Hardy's character Bane), he also remarks on Nolan's trademark "top-secret" filming procedures:
You can watch the full interview here:
In other news, Variety has confirmed that actress Juno Temple (who - last we heard - was "being eyed for a role" in TDKR) has been officially locked-in to play "a street-smart Gotham girl". Filming on 'The Dark Knight Rises' begins in May, with production reportedly traveling to a variety of world locations as well as Chicago (which Nolan has previously used as the backplate for Gotham City).

An upcoming TV spot for Marvel's "Thor" has shown up on YouTube, and beyond showing more of the action scenes in the film, it also shows a bit more of Thor's trademark bravado, and even a quick shot of him flying! Take a look:
Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures and IMDB just released a new series of "text on face" posters (which is getting to be almost as annoying as that "blue and orange" poster trend) for the film:

For a film that's coming out in June, 'Green Lantern' seems to have slowed their marketing machine down a notch. With only one trailer released (most tentpole films get two or three, plus a handful of TV spots), the only recent news is that there is a new picture of the "green tuna" suit on the cover of the upcoming video game, and a very "DragonBall: Evolution"-looking Abin Sur:

'How I Met Your Mother' actress Cobie Smulders - who plays second-in-command Maria Hill in the 'The Avengers' - recently did an interview where she confirms that SHIELD will be donning their trademark skin-tight suits (or at least, she will):
Until next time!

Comment by David on March 28, 2011 at 9:18pm Oh that's right. Joss Whedon is directing The Avengers...meh.

@Cthulhu - Is that the DeNiro who was in Taxi Driver, or the DeNiro who was in Shark Tale, Little Fockers, and is currently working on craptastic romance New Year's Eve? No offense, but I honestly wonder if maybe dude can't tell a good role anymore.
And I don't "hate" Amy Adams - I think she's very cute and loveable and is great in those kind of roles. However, nothing about her says "Lois Lane" to me. I just don't see her breaking into a top-secret facility or toppling an entire corporation with a well-placed article. I definitely can't see her standing up to someone like Lex Luthor. Sure, she was rough and tumble in The Fighter, but one halfway decent role doesn't make up for a dozen off-character ones.
Comment by Iffy on March 28, 2011 at 6:18pm Superman: So far, there's nothing from the on-going casting news that's irked me. Amy Adams was not necessarily under my radar as a potential choice for Lois Lane, but unlike a lot of naysayers, I'm confident she's a good choice. She's definitely a better choice than Kate Bosworth. Also, 3 Oscar nominations isn't too shabby, either.
The Dark Knight Rises: A previous Spillio made the comment of an episode of Batman that had Gordon hire Bane to hunt down the Dark Knight, title of it was "Over the Edge". I don't know if Oldman is implying certain scenes will conjure up that particular episode, but with the events from the The Dark Knight being a jumping off point for how things in Rises are, I'd expect something to that effect. But we'll see.
Thor: I just want this movie to be out already. The posters are kind of jarring, but I'm still eager to see it. Not as much as Captain America or Green Lantern, but close enough.
Green Lantern: Speaking of which, I'm not too nit-picky about the effects, since I'm sure they'll "take care of it in Post". The video game, well, while there are rare exceptions (i.e. X-Men Origins: Wolverine), most video game adaptations to movies are not good. But we'll see.
Avengers: Not that excited as I should be. It may change. It will take more than Cobie Smulders in a tight jumpsuit though.
Comment by The Dork Knight on March 28, 2011 at 5:55pm For the first time in a while....GREAT SUPERMAN NEWS...
I can easily see her get into that role of Lois Lane. Anyone who has seen 'The Fighter' knows that she can be a real sexy bitch if she wants to. she was TOUGH in that role. when she fought the sisters especially...it made the audience cheer and get pumped up.
she is a perfect choice.
AND The Dark Knight Rises is definitely under the right security. im glad even the actors dont know the ending..it makes it mysterious to everyone including those on set.
DAMN...finally im looking forward to Superman again...and obviously TDKR is still the movie i want to see the most between 2011/2012 combined.
