I felt it was a nice thriller. I wanted for it to come on cable however. I agree that no woman "deserves it or is asking to be raped" In fact a man capable of such an act never needs to be encouraged. It doesn't matter what type of dress the woman is wearing. Its all about the feeling of power these men get from taking control of your body from you. If anyone was asking for it, it was the Coach's daughter. She was constantly enticing a man that was mentally challenged. A man whose self control and very idea of right and wrong were damaged. Here's a child in a man's body with no idea how to control the sexual and strength of that body. The Coach would have been better off punishing his daughter instead of attempting to get this man-child to understand to stay away from his daughter.

Now I usually dislike remakes strongly, especially if I liked the original. However, I did like the Straw Dogs remake more than the original. It's simply my opinion on which I enjoyed more. The original bored me most of the time up until the end. The remake however I did like. I'm not saying it was a better or even necessary movie, but I did enjoy it. The actors did great and the action was good.

Personally, them remaking Straw Dogs was unnecessary. Since the original was an instant classic.

@Panzer

You're really oversimplifying, man. There's plenty of 'em like that, but there's plenty who are less... psychotic in their motives with it. Read up on this stuff, you'll see what I mean.

i completely agree about movies today [american cinema basically] always wanting a hero in the end. americans cannot accept an unhappy ending, and that's probably why our movies suck, because we never push limits.

@bagheadman (and others)

Sigh. OK. Let me spell this out for people. Rape is about POWER, not sex. What someone wears HAS NO EFFECT on their chances of getting raped. Interestingly, neither does age or social status. Wearing "slutty" clothing will not result in rape; nor will not wearing revealing clothing prevent rape.

Rapists are not horny teenagers who "just can't control themselves around pretty girls," they are disturbed sexual terrorists who operate on a similar psychological profile as serial killers.
