Deadline reports that Oscar winning scribe Steve Zaillian has moved his developing production Time Crimes from United Artists to DreamWorks Pictures. He's a producer on the science fiction thriller and also just committed to performing a rewrite of Tim Sexton's earlier draft.
The film is about a man who goes back in time an hour in an attempt to alter the events of a major crime. It is a remake of Los Cronocrimenes, a foreign film from writer/director Nacho Vigalondo, who will executive produce with Eduardo Carneros Gonzalez. When set up at UA, Tom Cruise was set to star, but it is uncertain at this time whether or not he remains on board now.
Zaillian has a number of projects coming up, including The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Moneyball, both Sony productions due in the latter half of 2011.

Comment by Cinema Dr. AJ on January 19, 2011 at 9:26am This is weird- I just discovered the original Los Cronocrimenes like a month ago.
I loved it. I got all my friends to watch it, we are all still reeling over the possibility of an event that causes itself. Now I get on Spill and see that they're remaking it?
Am I excited or not? Well.... depends- on who directs. And while I like Tom Cruise, I would rather see a method actor than a celebrity in this role. The main character in Los Cronocremenes is an old, chubby balding guy, no reason for America to slap Tom Cruise in there.
Phillip Seymour Hoffman, please?
