Stars Return for 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D'

Source: Movie Web

New images have been released for the video game adaptation/sequel 'Silent Hill: Revelation 3D'  that introduce us to the main character Heather Mason (played by Adelaide Clemens at left), and bring back a familiar face ('Silent Hill' star Radha Mitchell at right). Mitchell returns - along with Sean Bean and Deborah Kara Unger - for the follow-up to the 2006 horror film.

The plot synopsis:

For years, Heather Mason and her father have been on the run, always one step ahead of dangerous forces that she doesn't fully understand. Now on the eve of her 18th birthday, plagued by terrifying nightmares and the disappearance of her father, Heather discovers she's not who she thinks she is. The revelation leads her deeper into a demonic world that threatens to trap her in Silent Hill forever.

One of the new batch of films to be shot on lightweight 3D Red Epic cameras, the horror thriller is expected to be in theaters in late 2011.

silent hill was pretty close to the first game imo.  They just replaced the cult with religeous zealots and replaced the main guy with a woman.   Silent hill 3 is the direct sequal to Silent hill 1 so it kind of makes sense that they would do this as the sequal.

Yes, I'm a fan of the games! Specially of SH3, but I'm also a fan of seeing new stuff and different point of views in films. So I don't mind seeing a different story in a Silent Hill movie, because if a I want to see the story of Silent Hill 3, I would just play Silent Hill 3 again! Why telling the same story again when you can tell a new one instead?

Then again,  you obviously  being a  fanboy,  I don't expect you to understand.

And I'll double this.  Whats wrong with wanting to see a story that you like,  be it comic book or video game or manga or what have you,  done right on the big screen?  Had they gotten the first movie even close to the games then I personally wouldn't be complaining.  But they didn't.  I do feel like parts of it were well done,  but that wasn't enough to make up for pretty much ignoring most of the first Silent Hill game.

Now the people who would whine because,  just by way of example,  Harry wasn't wearing the right clothes or something,  I'll agree with you there.  That level of obsession is...a bit much.

Not quite,  Zombieman.  What the game fans want from a movie is something that at least kind of follows the story that the games weave.  The first Silent Hill DIDN'T.  They didn't even get the main characters sex right.  They made Dhalia a STRICKEN MOTHER.  Dhalia was pretty much never that.  The only thing they got 'right' was the 'parent trying to find their kid in Silent Hill.' part of the story.  We don't want to see the main characters trying to figure out puzzles,  no.  But we do want to see the stories that were told in the games,  told in the movies.  Then again,  you obviously not being a fan,  I don't expect you to understand.

There's always going to be people complaining about everything...

´´The video game movies have to be exactly as the game!!! Now, where is my Silent Hill movie where the main character spends 1 hour looking for a pair or keys and they try to tell the plot of a 15 hours video game into a 2 hours movie ? ? ?``

No.  Ugh.  I wish they'd just dropped all pretense of there ever having been a first movie. Not that it was bad,  they just felt the need to change a ton of crap.  Now they are trying to...follow the third game AND the first movie?  This is a disaster waiting to happen.  Now pay attention!  Watch as Pyramid Head makes a return  ((This is bad)) and Valtiel never makes an appearance.  Or Claudia.  Or Vincent.  Or anything else related to the third game,  except the bare bones they outlined.

WAY BETTER than resident evil movies

ooooh I hope this stays pretty true to silent hill 3 as that game rocked.  The only thing I hope is they keep more true to the lore of the video games and not replace the cult that was trying to awaken the sleeping god with crazy christians who burnt up a little girl who they thought was evil :(
