Spill.com 2011 Academy Awards Poll Final Results!

The Spill.com 2011 Academy Awards Poll is officially closed, and after 300 votes were made (with only four of you voting twice...shame on you), the results are in!

Best Director

Spillios are hoping the Award for Best Director goes to David Fincher for The Social Network, holding 49.28% of the vote!

Darren Aronofsky came in second place for Black Swan with a respectable 38.49%; the Coen Brothers for True Grit only managed 5.4%; David O. Russell scraped 3.96% for The Fighter; and the other favored to win, Tom Hopper came in dead last for The King's Speech with 2.88%

Best Actor

While The King's Speech received little love from Spill in other categories, Colin Firth won the hearts of 43.17% of Spillios to root for him getting the Best Actor Award!

The young, and no-longer the Michael Cera lookalike, Jesse Eisenberg impressed 26.98% of Spill for his role as the near-autistic Mark Zuckerberg in The Social Network. Cool-guy extraordinare and co-host for tonight's show, James Franco came in third for 127 Hours with 22.66%. Only 4.68% of Spill felt that Jeff Bridges needed another Oscar for True Grit; and same went for Javier Bardem for his work Biutiful, gaining only 2.52% of the vote.

Best Actress

Oh wait, that's not the picture you want to see; here we go :)

Yes, Natalie Portman took the largest lead than any other category for Black Swan, holding a staggering 94.24% to win Best Actress of the Year!

The runner ups were: Annette Benning for The Kids Are All Right with 2.88%; Michelle Williams for Blue Valentine 1.44%; Nicole Kidman for Rabbit Hole and Jennifer Lawrence for Winter's Bone both had .72%. Sorry girls, better luck next year!

Best Supporting Actor

Christian Bale gets lots of love from this site, and 80.94% of Spillios are hoping he takes Oscar gold tonight for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Dicky Eklund in The Fighter!

The ever competent and entertaining Geoffery Rush came in second for The King's Speech with 10.07%; Jeremy Renner got a little love for The Town's only nomination in the ceremony with 5.04%; John Hawkes in the completely-unknown-until-Oscar season-hit Winter's Bone had 2.52% of fans; and Mark Ruffalo for The Kids Are All Right came in last with 1.44%.

Best Supporting Actress

The youngest nominee of the night, Hailee Steinfeld, impressed 55.04% of Spill for her supporting work (despite being the lead actress) in the remake of True Grit!

The two supporting actresses from The Fighter, Melissa Leo and Amy Adams came in second and third, holding 23.38% and 10.79% respectively. Helena Bonham Carter could only get 7.91% for not acting like a Tim Burton doll in The King's Speech. And Jacki Weaver only had 2.88% of the vote for the criminally unseen Animal Kingdom.

Best Original Screenplay

All hail the House of Nolan for while being snubbed from the Best Director category, 84.89% of Spill are cheering Christopher Nolan on to win the Best Original Screenplay award for his mind-bending script of Inception!

The favored to win this award (and first-time away from TV screenwriter), David Seidler came in second for The King's Speech holding 8.27%. Scott Silver, Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, and Keith Dorrington came in third for The Fighter with 3.96%. Lisa Chodolenko and Stuart Blumberg's script for The Kids Are All Right only got 1.8% of love; with Mike Leigh coming in last with 1.08% for the overlooked Another Year.

Best Adapted Screenplay

Aaron Sorkin impressed the majority of Spill for his clever adaptation of "The Accidental Billionaires" with The Social Network, holding 64.39% of the vote to win Best Adapted Screenplay!

John Lasseter and his mighty, mighty Pixar crew came in second for Toy Story 3 with 19.42%. Oscar-winner Danny Boyle came in third for his touching tale of a rock teaching a boy the value of leaving a note in 127 Hours with 8.99% of the vote. Another pair of Oscar winners, the Coen Brothers, came in fourth for their remake, True Grit with 6.12%. Finally Debra Granik and Anne Rosellini came in last with 1.08% for their adaptation of Daniel Woodrell's novel, Winter's Bone.

Best Animated Film

Surprised? Don't play that game, because Toy Story 3 was beloved by 87.05% of Spill to win Best Animated Film!

How to Train Your Dragon walked away with 7.35% of the vote; while The Illusionist could only get 4.08% of fans.

Best Original Score

What you're listening to is "Dream is Collapsing" from Hans Zimmer's spell-binding Inception score, and he pleased the eardrums of 55.04% of Spill who are rooting he takes home his second oscar for Best Original Score!

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' composed fine music for 31.65% of Spill for their work in The Social Network. John Powell's score for How to Train Your Dragon earned 7.91%, while A.R. Rahman's score for 127 Hours garnered 3.24% of the vote. Finally, Alexandre Desplat earned a following of 2.16% for the score of The King's Speech.

Best Picture

In a surprising twist, The Social Network earned 33.81% of the vote from people in Spill who are rooting it on to take the Best Picture of the Year Award!

The other Spill-favorite, Inception, came in second with 24.08%; the mind-screwing Black Swan in third with 17.63%; the tear-jerking Toy Story 3 in fourth with 10.79%; and the other favored to actually win the award, The King's Speech, only garnered 7.35% of the vote.

True Grit127 Hours; and Winter's Bone  only scrounged a few votes between them. The Fighter; and The Kids Are All Right tied for last place.

Thanks to everyone for voting! Now let's see how close our winners were to the Academy's choices, cheers everybody!

The King's Speech was great but The Social Network is the movie of the moment, it speaks of our times, I mean it's like if All the President's Men or or Pulp Fiction or The Dark Night didn't get the best picture oscar back in their respective years. wait...

I have yet to see the king's speech and after watching the oscars i kinda of want to see it, I have seen the social network and while it's a good movie i still believe it's a pointless movie that would have benefited from being a documentary more than a film.   the fact that social network got best score was shocking though...the score in that movie is so forgettable it was sad, but i do have to agree that tom hooper winning best director was crap, darron arnofsky was more deserving of it.

One award that was giving out that blew me away was best art direction...alice and wonderland?  really that movie was more CGI than art direction, it was nice to see "Mountain man" bale win for best supporting actor he did an amazing job with that role in the fighter

I say this now and I say it with every fiber of my being. FUCK KING SPEECH!!!!!
Comment by David on February 28, 2011 at 12:03am

We're all going to forget about The King's Speech a year from now. The Social Network should have won Best Picture, but what pisses me off even more is that Fincher didn't get Best Director. What the fuck else has the Hooper guy done? BLEGH.

Also, Deakins should have won Best Cinematography for True Grit. Just sayin'.

gotta love us spilldos, we know movies better then the academy. One thing, Jesse Eisenburg and James Franco were both WAY better the Collin Firth in this guy's opinion. Also Social Network for best score.
