If it's crap ... We'll tell you
The Gambler of Fate. posted a statusWe told you we were taking a different approach to our videos, competing less with the audio reviews and becoming more interactive with you Spillios. Well, here's our first attempt in going that direction, and we're starting with what looks to possibly be another hit franchise based on a series of young adult books - THE HUNGER GAMES.
And here's where you fit in. We thought it might be fun to see where our videos will go when we answer your questions about the movie. So in the comments section below ask something that you think will get the Spill crew in a good, entertaining dialogue. The more creative the question, the more interesting the discussion will be.
Need help? Try watching the trailer again. Looking forward to reading your questions.

Comment by Captain Talon on March 15, 2012 at 11:36pm Some critics are comparing this movie to Twilight, even Lionsgate having the audacity to put the latest trailer to Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2 with this movie. Do you think, that by getting the Twilight audience just for that trailer will attract an audience for all of the wrong reasons?
Comment by ScottPilgrimJDP on March 15, 2012 at 11:11pm With the very gritty visual style used in the trailer (and hopefully the film in its entirety), do and of the Spill crew think that this film could introduce the (honestly at times highly ignorant) teenage group to other gritty films that need the attention, such as The Raid or more upcoming from this year.
Comment by nattyLite on March 15, 2012 at 9:36pm hmmm. I was looking at the trailers and clips on imdb and already noticed stark differences between the book and movie. The book was written pretty much in first person subjective so I was wondering whether or not they were gonna use narration, but it doesn't seem like it. But since this is written by an actual writer and not a jobless, pseudo-feminist, practically dumb, jobless receptionist (Twilight) with the writing ability of a 6th grader, I am more hopeful.
My question: Book to movie has always had to overcome the first-person narration obstacle. In your opinion, what is the best movie that has done this? And what ways can you think of doing it? Other then the awkward "saying your thoughts out loud" that makes the audience roll their eyes and typical voice-over which sounds clumsy if done improperly.
Thanks for making my cubicle day bearable.
Comment by FabFilmFan on March 15, 2012 at 9:30pm Question: Do you think in this PG-13 rated film, the director will be able to effectively bring out the incredible violence that was such a major part of the books. Sorry if this was already asked. I didn't go back and read all 17 pages of comments!
Comment by RamónLimón on March 15, 2012 at 9:16pm looking ahead how is the third book ever going to fit as a film when the subject matter and tone is so different from the first two books
Comment by kevin on March 15, 2012 at 8:54pm 1. Disregarding that this is gonna be another franchise based on a series of young adult books, does the premise of this series actually interest any of you?
2. If you guys believe this will just be another Twilight, who do you think will not last and leave the theater first when you watch it?
Comment by PanchoCheeseCake on March 15, 2012 at 8:53pm Do you expect any District 9 references?
Comment by Paul Crews on March 15, 2012 at 8:29pm I didn't like the book. Not that it's badly written, It just doesn't offer anything new. All I could think of while I was reading it was that it was obvious the author only wrote it to sell the rights to make a movie. I can't stand writers who whore themselves out to get their easy 'Harry Potter/Twilight' movie-money.
Comment by Vee Vee on March 15, 2012 at 8:15pm Young Adult Books are being optioned literally by the second in hopes that they'll become the next teen franchise. Already lots of YA dystopian books ala the Hunger Games in the pipeline. Are you excited about seeing more teen-romancey supernatural/sci-fi films?
