Hey Friends,
I arrived in Austin at 4pm roughly. It was a nice flight with a very cute girl sitting next to me by the name of Natalie. Her brother Ben was in my row as well and the three of us spoke almost the entire way about movies, pop culture, the internet, where we come from, what we do for a living. Basically we just made small talk, but it was extremely natural small talk and we exchanged numbers when the flight was over. They were busy on Saturday so I invited them to come to the BBQ on Sunday.
I got up from my seat as we finished Taxing and called Korey. He sounded excited to see me. I knew it'd be awesome to see him again. I let him know I was back in Austin and that my flight had landed safely and he said he'd see me soon. We hung up and I went down to the baggage claim. I had to convince some one that my bag (Which has my name tag on it) was even mine. I can't explain in words how annoying shit like that can be.
I met Korey outside after saying goodbye to Ben and Natalie one last time, and proceeded to go to Korey's house. Nothing interesting happened for the next few hours. Really I just slept on his couch. Nick Hodges wasn't around. He was out and about with Co-Host or some such nonsense. I woke up later and Korey told me that he had spoken to Renegade and that the plans were this: Renegade, Metal Virgin, Nick Hodges and I were going to a Karaoke bar. Oh NO.
I didn't know what to expect. Not because I hadn't done Karaoke before. I'd done Karaoke in the birthplace of the awful art, Japan. But I didn't know what to expect from Texan Karaoke. Would it be all country music? Would it all suck? Then I got there and was quickly reminded that Austin and Texas don't have the same stereotypes at all. Eventually the evening was filled with more friendly faces. Co-host came, as did Greg from Leog and a new guy I hadn't met named Hai.
We were getting drinks, chatting, hanging out, and dissing the terrible singers as well as applauding the good ones. It was a lot of fun. Renegade aka Big John is literally one of the most impressive singers I've ever seen in my entire life. He has skill unlike any other. HE sang quite a few songs that night, all of them amazing but he brought down the house with Sledge Hammer, Eye of the Tiger and When a Man Loves a Woman simply KILLED IT. People were walking up to him all night singing his praises and patting him on the back. He really was in his environment.
The night continued on and we all went and got food... Some Mexican chain that I will fire bomb to the ground I SWEAR IT! I got food poisoning and haven't been able to sleep all night as a result. My stomach feels like it's been ripped open from the inside and I don't even want to tell you about my bathroom experiences. I wouldn't wish that on anyone... not even Q.
But it was a good evening. Seeing people I hadn't seen in a long time, and getting to hang out with MV and Hodges was a really great time. Hai sang Sweet Caroline which is one of those songs EVERYONE knows and sings along with. That was great.
Tonight I guess there's a dinner with everyone together. Cant' wait to see what happens. Going to try and take it easy. I think Korey is asleep now. HIs room mate is wide awake and actually got food and came back... i think that's what he did. I was fucking around with my iPhone and didn't pay attention.
