Spill Dot Con 2012 Film Fest and Talent Show Entries

Spill Dot Con 2012 is over, but that doesn't mean the fun has to end! For everyone who couldn't attend this year, we've decided to post up a selection of entries from the Film Festival (including some that didn't make the cut before the deadline) and video from the live Spillio Talent Show.

First up, check out the videos from the Film Festival. Between post-apocalyptic scenarios, paper puppets, killer dolls, and "machinimated" giant cats, this was a year to remember. Which one will be your favorite? Let us know below in the comment section:

FIRST PLACE - 'Book of Korey' by The Projectionist

SECOND PLACE - 'The Garf Knight Rises, Pt 2' by Meksicano

THIRD PLACE - 'Spill Peanuts' by Erin Hesser

Then, we have some video from the live Spillio Talent Show (thanks to Matthew Hervey aka Mattashell, who was kind enough to film it for us). Here's our amazing winner Laura Silva (aka Gothka13) performing the "Teen Titans" theme song in American Sign Language:

And the last act of the night - something that was discussed at length on the podcasts (which will be posted this week in their regular spots) - Alan, with his inexplicably weird "talent":

To see the rest of the contestants, head over to Matthew's YouTube page.

Here is the reason I didn't vote for the Garf Knight- it exceeded the time limit (broken rule) also Nick was in it. Now I know that many of you will say, "huh what?" but it's that i feel that people who are actually part of the crew in some way or fashion (IE regulars on the podcasts) shouldn't do voice work or appear in the spill films. It is unfair to people who do not have access to them, it in a sense gives them a leg up.

Stephen's film last year was the best animated, and didn't need Cat and Harris to do the voices. It could have won on it's own- But I feel like it got a landslide due to the voice cast. No I didn't submit a film, and so there is no reason for anyone to say that I am bitter. It's just my opinion as an audience member.

It's a sad day on Spill when the joke is ruined :( Ya know? The joke we're all in on but that no one ever talks about? No one talks about it ON Spill. That's what makes it good..... I was disappointed to see a lengthy video of Korey in real life posted ON Spill (usually on the site they just mention things that go beyond their animated surface [like "2am"] in passing and leave the finding of said things entirely up to the Spillios' own curiosity), but seeing Co-Host in real life at the end just broke my damn heart :(.

I mean, maybe I'm the only one who thinks about it this hard, but c'mon guys, you have a gimmick/joke/character/image that you've maintained (and it's one of the reasons I love Spill). Why fuck it up now? You even take yourselves out of live videos from the floor of Comic-Con and put animation in for Christ sake. So what is this nonsense?? Next you'll be telling me that Goatsie isn't real. FUCK THIS!

On another note, Laura Silva is adorable :3

I voted for Peanuts. As much as I liked the Garf Knight Rises. it just wasn't original artwork in any way. but great writing though.

Did I just see an image from my film linked to the front of the Spill.com ticker?... I have no words for how amazing it is to see that.

For everyone who was at the festival and for everyone who has helped and supported me through the last few months, thank you! You can't imagine how great it feels to have everyone enjoying my film as much as they are. Thank you all again, and with any luck, I'll be back next year with another film!

@Gothka13 , watching your performance and the rest of the Spill.con videos really made my day. Thanks for being so brave. Also thanks to the Spill crew for all the great work and hours of entertainment.

I hope I can join you guys at Spill.con next year!

@ M.K Yes, the judges gave it to me when they shook my hand, but Korey said to email him later with an address for an actual prize.

@Gothka13 Did you really get just 5 dollars??

Wow, I was really expecting to sit through like two awful videos and give up. I gotta say, almost every one of those contest entries was really well done and hilarious, good work to everyone who made one of these. They are great!
