'Smokin' Aces' Prequel Gets Green Light

On his official website, 'Smokin' Aces' writer/director Joe Carnahan says that a prequel to the 2007 film has been greenlit.
Finally, some actual 'Smokin Aces' news. Universal has officially greenlit the prequel and we are underway. Cameos will abound. Trust me.
The original film had a star-studded cast that included starred Ben Affleck, Andy Garcia, Alicia Keys, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, Ryan Reynolds, Jason Bateman and Common and earned $57 million worldwide.

Smokin' Aces was a bit of a mess to me. All the characters were paper thin and had nothin to do but point guns and shoot at each other. The execution of the story was bad too. That b-plot about this old FBI or CIA, CSI, LOL agent or something like that was not needed. The action was kinda good but since none of the characters had any real...well... character other than being a

you had nobody to root for. When they die it's like 'meh'.
Now this prequal, I hope Joe Carnahan gets his act together and stops trying to make another Tarantino/Ritchie gangster knockoff.
(Even though a lot argue that Ritchie knocks off Tarantino but thats another story.)
