We were orginally going to do a full review for this movie, but it'll be too much for us since we're working on the best of '08. After hearing about Slumdog Millionaire, it didn't really appeal to me, but after hearing oscar talk, it started to. I mean this film has a 95% approval rating! I had to see this film. Now that I've seen I can say I was awfully surprised at this film, but... to tell you the truth, I don't think it deserves all this hype and a best picture nomination, again I'm not saying this is a BAD film because this is a really GREAT film! The kid actors in this movie, are the best kid actors I've seen in ages and every actor is great in this film as well. The cinematography is also great. What really annoyed me though is the flashbacks. They were having flashbacks of a flashback and even though that was unique, it confused me on some parts and it also dragged a lot, but what really saved this film from being a 3.5 rating is the score! The score in this film is spectacular! Much better than those kid actors. This really set the mood and I felt the characters in the film were in real danger. The setting is also good for this type of score. I can't even explain if this film is supposed to be suspense, drama, or romance. It's all three combined in one. I felt the writing in this film was overall great. There are also some parts in this movie that I laughed out loud at, something I didn't expect. I didn't expect much from this movie, but what I got was more.
4.5 out of 5
