Disney was never considered to be great at making computer animated films outside of Pixar, until this movie came along and was actually, well really good. Seriousily, I really liked this movie. It's funny, has some great visuals, and it's just a really enjoyable movie. Granted, while It is not as good as Disney's other animated films(infact it's not nearly as good as Princess and the Frog in my opinion), it's still good enough to be on my list as the number ten film.
9.How to Train Your Dragon
My pick for the second best animated film of this year(if you don't know what the first is already, then where the hell have you been?). Dreamsworks has always been hit or miss with their animated movies and this happens to be one of their biggest hits. Unlike most Dreamwork animated movie, this movie doesn't rely on humor or pop culture references as much as their other movies. But in reality that isn't a bad thing at all, infact that's what really makes this movie really good. It's a cute little story, it's well animated, and it's just one of those movies that's just really enjoyable. Plus the dragons in this movie are pretty damn awesome and you have to give it credit for that. While it's not the best animated movie this year, it's still one of Dreamwork's best animated movie, if not their best animated movie.
8.127 Hours
Now here's a movie that some of you hardcore movie lovers would really like. What really makes this movie are two things, the first is James Franco who does an excellent job while being pretty much the only actor in this movie. I would not be surprise at all if he gets an oscar nominated and maybe even an oscar win. The other thing is Danny Boyle's direction, where he really makes a movie with such a simplistic concept and made it really interesting. Sure the end of the movie might be abit too graphic for some people, but if you get pass that, 127 Hours is an excellent movie with a simplistic concept.
7.The Social Network
Now, I know what some of you might be thinking, "How come this movie isn't higher on the list?" Well, while I really like this movie, I do think it is a bit over rated. Now that doesn't mean this isn't a bad movie at all(infact if I did thought it was bad, why the hell would it be on the list in the first place?). I just don't think it is as good as most people are saying it is. However despite that, I think everything in this movie is great. Mainly the writing and probably most surprisingly the acting. Who would of thought the guy from Zombieland would become a major choice to be nominated for best actor for the Oscars? Same goes with Justin Timberlake. Plus, Now we officially know that they did a good job casting Andrew Garfield as Spider Man after this movie. Everyone does a great job espically with the help of David Fincher's direction and the excellent writing. Abit over-rated? Yeah, but in the end it's really hard not to like this movie.
6.KICK-ASS
I know many people have said this before, but man this movie stays true to it's name. It's easily one of the most enjoyable action movies of this year. And it's not just a great action movie, but an excellent comedy as well. There's not only a bunch of bad-ass action scenes, but there's also some great hilarious moments in this movie as well. Though, I think it also helps that they had a really great cast for this movie. I mean Chloe Mortez is awesome as the hilariousily foul mouthed Hit-Girl and it's easy to say that this is probably Nicolas Cage's best movie in a long time. So what else can I say? It's just an awesome movie, nuff said.
5.The Town
Now here's a movie that's also excellent. Yeah, Ben Affleck hasn't always been the best actor out there, but he sure is a pretty damn good director, wait did I say good, I mean great. It has some great dramatic moments and even some extremely well done action scenes, along with some excellent acting. Ben Affleck does a great job in this movie and Jeremy Renner does an excellent job again after coming off of last year's best picture the Hurt Locker. This is probably the one movie of this year where pretty much every one I know who saw this movie thoguht it was great. And if you haven't seen it yet, I reccommend doing checking it out very soon, even if it's right after you're done with this list.
4.Scott Pilgrim vs the World
I know it's weird putting a movie like this over the Town and the Social Network, but honestly I seriously love this movie that much. But if you know you me well enough, then you probably already know that. Either way, Scott Pilgrim is the one movie that I probably enjoyed the most this year. Sure it's only number four on my list, but it's the movie where I have soo much fun watching it and everytime I see it, it just gives me a great big smile on my face. The visuals are great, it stays very true to the original source material very wll, the characters are extremely likable, it has a great soundtrack, and it's just hilarious. This movie made Edger Wright my second favorite director out there. While he made great movies in the past like Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead, this was the movie that really made me love his work even more than I did before. Plus this movie is finally the closest thing to the best video game movie ever. I probably talked about this movie enough already, but in the end it's just one of my favorite movies out there right now and number four on my list
3.Toy Story 3
Now here's the best animated movie of this year(and if you didn't see this coming then, where the hell have you been this year?) I think pretty much anyone who has see this movie could love it. Whether it's someone who's young or old, anyone could relate to or enjoy. And it's the one movie of this year that has mad me teary eyed in the end(I mean come on you did too). It's not only one of the best movie sequels of all time, but also one of the best end of a trilogy of all time. Though in the en, what really hasn't been said about this movie already other than it's great. So, let's leave it at that, and if you still haven't seen it, then get out of that rock you've been under and go and see it.
2.Black Swan
This movie is just simply incredible. Everything about this movie is incredible. This movie has some of the most haunting and dark scenes in movie history. However that doesn't make it a bad movie at all, infact that's one of the great things about this movie. It truly is a psychological horror movie because it's one of the most intense movie I have sit through. It's definitely not a movie for the casual movie audience(since the people sitting in front of me walked out) but for the hardcore movie lovers, it's absolutely amazing. Another thing I should also mentition is the acting. Natalie Portman gives an amazing performance and I think she gave the best performance of this year easily. If she doesn't get an oscar for this, then I don't know what the hell is wrong with the Academy. However, in reality it's actually sort of tied as the number one the best movie of this year for me. I mean like both movies equally but I think I might like number one a little more, but I wouldn't be surprised if I end up liking Black Swan more after multiple times. Though seriousily, if you're able to and have not yet seen it, see this movie as soon as possible. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
1.INCEPTION
Yeah, I know it sounds a little bit predictable putting this movie at number one, but in all honesty, I just really love this movie. It's intelligent, has a great concept, has an incredible score, visually stunning and it's just a really epic movie. Chris Nolan is one of those directors who should be nominated for an oscar for Best Director, and hopefully this year, that will finally happen. He has made some of the best movies out there and Inception is no exception. Again, While it's number one on my list, I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up being my second favorite movie of this year in hindsight since I love Black Swan just as much as this movie if not more. Though despite that, I love this movie over all and that's why it's my pick for Best movie of 2010.
And that's my top ten of 2010, hope you enjoyed my list. But before I end this, here's some real quick honorable mentitions that didn't quite make the cut
True Grit
The Fighter
Hot Tub Time Machine
Easy A
and Shutter Island
Alright, Now I'm done and I hope you enjoyed this list.
