A few months ago, it wasn't clear whether Robert Rodriguez's 'Sin City: A Dame to Kill For' was ever going to happen. Now, not only does the movie have an October release date, but it has considerably beefed up its cast in the last few weeks. Joseph Gordon-Levitt came aboard earlier this month as the gambler Johnny, followed shortly by Josh Brolin taking over the role of Dwight from Clive Owen, due to 'Dame's playful chronological relationship to the plot of the first film. Now it appears a trio of impressive names has been added to this already formidable roster. Ray Liotta ('Goodfellas'), Juno Temple ('Killer Joe'), and Jeremy Piven ('Entourage') have all come aboard. At this point, their character descriptions are being kept secret.
Wow, 'A Dame to Kill For' is shaping up to be a sensational ensemble...much as was the first 'Sin City.' Of this latest batch of cast additions, I'm not sure if I'm more excited for Juno Temple or Jeremy Piven. Piven is one of my favorite comedic character actors, and the sole reason I kept watching 'Entourage' once it started to lag. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, whatever you may feel about that last season of 'Entourage,' it's well worth watching for Ari's story arc and Piven's performance. Temple on the other hand wowed me to no end in William Friedkin's 'Killer Joe,' and I'm very much looking forward to seeing her in another film noir. Ray Liotta is a guy I respect, but he's become so ubiquitous in both independent theatrical and direct-to-video fare that it's kind of hard to get excited about his new projects. All that being said, are they really still adding cast members with only nine months until release? Wouldn't that suggest that none of the just-added actors will have major roles? Hopefully this comes together well, because the last thing we need is a rushed, unbalanced 'Sin City' sequel.
What do you guys think? Are you happy Liotta, Temple, and Piven are joining the 'Dame to Kill For' cast? Doesn't it seem like the movie should be further along by now?

Comment by MahMahAfro on January 20, 2013 at 5:34pm The Frank Miller property I really wanna see made into a movie is Dark Knight Returns (live action I mean), I don't feel like I need another Sin City movie. I'm always surprised to see it was 2005, feels like a lot longer ago to me.
Comment by Dominic Cellini on January 20, 2013 at 12:31pm I'm psyched for this. The original Sin City is one of my all time favorite films so I pray to god that this sequel is good.
Comment by Brad Holt on January 20, 2013 at 12:25pm Juno Temple in Sin City 99.99% chance her character is a hooker. Not saying that's the only role she can play, but given knowing it's Sin City and since she's played a character like that. Most likely she'll be.
Comment by Chaos Jumper on January 19, 2013 at 12:41pm Sin City . . . the story that drove Frank Millar to write the All Star Goddamn Batman & Robin, age 12. Now they are going to make a sequel. This isn't like Watchmen 2 or the prequel where people would get angry over a masterpiece, so yeah I don't mind. I'll just wait for the trailer and see for myself. But the casting is good for a start.
Comment by K-Bomb on January 19, 2013 at 10:55am I agree with Neg Primer. I seem to recall that the first one was a sign-em-up, get-em-shot, repeat-and-rinse kind of shoot, and that's kind of been the Rodriguez method all along. I'm not concerned, and I look forward to the first teaser trailer, which at this rate should be out next month sometime. (OK, maybe not that soon, but you never know with that guy) :)
Comment by Calvin on January 19, 2013 at 5:33am Juno Temple always looks so innocent and adorable and you just wanna hold her close and tell her everything will be alright.
Comment by Santos on January 18, 2013 at 11:25pm My big question is...Who's going to play the Dame?
Comment by Lt. Commander Armstrong on January 18, 2013 at 7:04pm How can you not get excited when Jeremy Piven is added to a movie you were already eagerly anticipating?
