Several New 'Star Trek 2' Set Images
WARNING! MAY CONTAIN POSSIBLE SPOILERS AND/OR PLOT POINTS!
More set pics from J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek 2'? Bring 'em on! Here we have several more angles of the fight between Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the yet-unidentified character played by Benedict Cumberbatch. It seems that Benedict may be too mighty even for Spock's nerve pinch. I love the shot of the two men (who are obviously stunt doubles) standing and watching Quinto and Cumberbatch duke it out. We also get a great shot of Abrams laying out the scene for the actors.
The last couple shots hint at a potential major spoiler so please be forewarned. After the fight scene between the two characters, it looks as if Uhura thoroughly takes out Cumberbatch with her trusty phaser. We could be misinterpreting this of course (she may just have it set to stun) but we felt it pertinent to warn you nonetheless. It also may be worth noting that under his long coat, Cumberbatch's character appears to be wearing the standard-issue Starfleet uniform (minus the colored overshirt).

@Fungusmonkey I don't know a terrible lot about Star Trek but aren't Vulcans/Romulans among the strongest humanoids in the Trek universe? As far as I can tell Cumberbatch is human, yet he's practically holding Spock up with one hand. I can only think of 2 "humans" that can do that, Khan and Data.

@Knight7sk - Surprisingly a lot. Most non-humanoid aliens, a scant handful of humans, a couple alien races... or they could be pulling a Serenity and have him reveal that he doesn't have that nerve cluster (or whatever).
It's an interesting turn of events, either way. I wonder if there's going to be a kind of outer threat/inner threat situation where there's a major event happening, but Cumberbatch is an "inside man" of sorts (since he's wearing the starfleet uniform).
