I'm going to try to keep this review short and to the point.

The Spectacular Spider-Man is arguably the best Spider-Man cartoon ever made. Sure, it has it's imperfections and the animation style may be off-putting to some (I like it myself), but it's just so much damn fun and captures the essence of Spider-Man better than anything that's come before it (and that includes all three movies).

Now, if you haven't watched the first season of Spectacular Spider-Man yet and decided to avoid those silly volume sets until something like this came along, good for you. If you did buy them, put those puppies on Ebay because you don't need them anymore. This is how season 1 of The Spectacular Spider-Man should be watched. Not repackaged as mini-movies with new credit sequences, but simply all 13 episodes as originally aired with the added bonus of there being no commercial interruptions. The extras are pretty sparse (there's only 2 featurettes which are actually quite good), but so what? Everything is there and as it should be and it looks great. What more can you ask for? This is the DVD set we've been waiting for.

On the minus side, since I watched the first season when it originally aired the fact that I knew what was going to happen took something away from the experience when I watched it again. However, if you haven't watched it yet, you're in for a treat. Do yourself a favor and buy this set now.
