Sam Worthington ('Avatar') may have gotten to play with the CG version of Arnold Schwarzenegger in McG's 'Terminator Salvation,' but it looks like he's now on the verge of getting to share the screen with the real deal. Worthington is in negotiations to join Arnie in the upcoming action/thriller 'Ten.' The movie is a take on Agatha Christie's classic mystery story 'Ten Little Indians,' though one can certainly expect 'Ten' will have significantly more gunplay and explosions. The updated version will focus on a DEA task force who raid a cartel safe house and begin to be knocked off one by one. 'Ten' was written by Skip Woods ('X-Men Origins: Wolverine') and will be directed by David Ayer ('Harsh Times'). An offer has been made to Worthington, and is rumored to be finalized as soon as his reps can iron out the details.
This story intrigues me and concerns me in equal measure. On the one hand, I'm a sucker for action movies and I'm very much in favor of this massive slate of movies Arnie is putting together for his comeback. I am chomping at the bit to see 'The Tomb' and 'The Last Stand,' two of his post-'Expendables 2' projects. However, I am also a fan of classic mysteries and 'Ten Little Indians' is one of the best. Moreso than the book, I'm a big fan of the 1945 movie version 'And Then There Were None.' I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the idea of doing that story as an action film. The setup seems simple enough, but maintaining the finer touches that made 'Ten Little Indians' so great seems a difficult task when injecting action movie aesthetics. But who knows, this could yield something amazing; two great tastes that have the potential to go great together. As to Worthington, I'm not his biggest fan. I find the guy to be pretty wooden and flat as an actor...so I guess that means I'm board with him. Puns! However, I'll reserve judgment until I see how well he plays off Schwarzenegger.
What do you guys think? Does this concept intrigue you? Is Worthington the right choice here?

Comment by Cranky Old Dude on July 24, 2012 at 6:36pm Arnie meets Scully? So this is part of the TWINS sequal? No, ? What the F??? Well, IS Arnie going to be a muscle bound version of Hercule Poirot? Accent might help him. Then again this pick has New Wood vs. Aging Wood. As Agatha Christie spins in her grave. All I can say is hahahahahahahahaha NO.
I don't understand how One Note Sam keeps getting work.
