reports that Sony is looking to cast the J. Jonah Jameson character for its new Spider-Man
reboot, and a few names are already being thrown around. According to the source "dozens" of actors are trying to get on board the project for what is sure to be a meaty role, but John Slattery
and Sam Elliot
are of particular note.
Both actors are of the right age and hair color to play the corporate curmudgeon Jameson, who employs a young Peter Parker at his media conglomerate The Daily Bugle. J.K. Simmons
nailed it this decade; I wonder whether anybody can come close to his loud, obnoxious and pitch-perfect performance.
Already cast are Andrew Garfield
, Emma Stone
and Rhys Ifans
. Marc Webb
is directing from a script by James Vanderbilt. Filming will begin in Los Angeles in December for a July 3rd, 2012 release.
