Unexpected darling of last year's Fantastic Fest, Quentin Dupieux's quirky film 'Rubber' has released an exclusive red band trailer through Hulu today. The film's odd premise is about a tire who comes to life and then roams the California desert, killing people and creatures with it's psychic powers. Dupieux (aka musician Mr. Oizo) has crafted a strangely interesting experiment in the genre as the local police and an audience gather to watch the events unfold.

Unfortunately, this trailer was released exclusively through Hulu, so anyone outside the US... sorry. It seems odd that a French film would release a trailer on a stateside-only website, but that can't be helped. We'll keep an eye out for when it eventually makes it's way to YouTube or another international site. For now, here's the trailer:

While the film itself may not be everyone's cup o' tea, the trailer is at least fun to watch from a "wtf?" point of view. 'Rubber' will be released in limited theaters starting April 1st (fitting, we know).

Ha ha ha... "Bat-shit Wonderful!" Funniest movie trailer of the year so far. And a perfect movie to watch while drinking. I maybe in the minority here, but I am looking forward to this.

There's another trailer here for non-US members: http://vimeo.com/15590547 If you check out his user page there's a bunch of clips from the movie too....which are just as odd

I keep hearing bad things about it but I still want to see because it looks really....different. Like, at least it'll be an interesting train wreck if I end up hating it. X3

Are you really going to criticize the stupidity of a movie about a psychic murdering tire?
