Back in May, it was reported that 'Contagion' scribe Scott Z. Burns would be taking over writing duties on the 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' sequel. He would be working from a draft penned by 'RotPotA' writers Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The question then arose as to what Jaffa and Silver would be working on instead. Turns out they are in fact doing a sequel, just not the one we wanted them to. Universal has hired them to write the long-discussed, still unrealized 'Jurassic Park 4.' Steven Spielberg will be producing the fourth chapter in the JP franchise, though Universal was quick to state that he will not also be directing. No word yet on when 'Jurassic Park 4' is expected to go into production.
I am really excited to see what Jaffa and Silver could do with any large-scale, creature-based sci-fi blockbusters, and I applaud Universal's decision to bring them on board. That being said, why do we need a 'Jurassic Park 4?' Don't get me wrong, I love dinosaurs as much as the next big kid, but how many more times can people go to islas they shouldn't? Plus, with the original 'Jurassic Park' being re-released in theaters next summer in 3D, would there be any way to avoid the fourth chapter being in three dimensions as well? Still, if this team is able to put together a good script, and a solid director is brought in, this could be worthwhile. I mean come one, even a bad movie with dinosaurs...still has dinosaurs. Give me a break, I'm trying to stay optimistic here.
What do you guys think? Could a fourth 'Jurassic Park' work? Is this the right writing duo for the job? Will this ever really get off the ground?

Comment by Burn Victim on June 24, 2012 at 8:14pm I've liked all of the JP movies so far, so i'm up for a 4th, just as long as they don't make it feel forced
Comment by Jon Riddle on June 24, 2012 at 10:42am There already is a sequel to "Rise of the Planet of the Apes". Five sequels, to be exact.
Comment by Nicholas Collier on June 24, 2012 at 2:13am @Allan Jensen
agreed, it was groundbreaking at the time, but in the same way as avatar. A 3d theatrical run is a waste of money.
Comment by Allan, Dane of Thrones on June 22, 2012 at 12:55pm Name ONE shot in all of Jurassic Park that could use 3D... I can't
Comment by Dr. Rufus on June 22, 2012 at 8:23am Hopefully they come up with a better title for this one.
Comment by BLU Year on June 22, 2012 at 8:20am I just to clarify: JP 2 was a colossal piece of shit. Stop saying it wasn't. Go watch it again. The third makes the cut for being fun and better paced than the second movie with a more clear and cut direction. Stop messing with established logic.
