Ron Swanson Teams Up With Diablo Cody For 'Lamb Of God'

Nick Offerman, better known as the mustachioed pillar of manliness that is Ron Swanson on NBC's 'Parks and Recreation,' has just landed himself a new big screen gig. He'll be co-starring in 'Lamb of God,' the directorial debut of screenwriter Diablo Cody ('Juno,' 'Young Adult'). The film revolves around a highly devout woman who abandons her faith in God after her body is severely burned in a plane crash. She then attempts to find herself again in Las Vegas; Sin City indeed. The cast for 'Lamb of God' already includes Octavia Spencer ('The Help'), Holly Hunter ('Raising Arizona'), Russell Brand ('Arthur'), and Julianne Hough ('Footloose'). No word yet on who Offerman might play or when filming will begin.

Not only am I a fan of 'Parks and Recreation,' but I also strive to live my life by the tenets of manhood espoused by Ron Swanson. We can talk all day about Offerman's comedic timing and his priceless facial reactions, but what I think is most impressive about him, and what will serve him best on this project, is his incredible ability to create memorable characters. Sure, Ron Swanson started on the page with the writers, but Offerman took what was on the page and turned it into one of television's most distinct personalities. The plot of 'Lamb of God' sounds pretty severe, but knowing Diablo Cody's work, there will most likely be a great deal of dark humor throughout the film. So whether or not Offerman is called upon to be funny in 'Lamb of God,' his ability to craft captivating characters will definitely benefit the film. In fact, his inclusion in this cast has me far more excited about 'Lamb of God' than I ever would have been. Now I just hope Diablo Cody adds in a plot device that revolves around bacon.

What do you guys think? Any Ron Swanson fans out there? Are you excited for 'Lamb of God?'

I think Nick Offerman would do the most justice if there's ever a Teddy Roosevelt biopic. He'd be my first and only choice.

Not a big fan of Cody.  The "who cares if real people don't act and sound like this, this line is witty" writing turns me off big time.  Who knows, maybe she can direct.

I love parks and recs, and Ron is the best character on the show. I have been waiting for him to get a role in some bigger stuff. My only problem with the movie ( even thou i know nothing about it) is that Russell brand is in it...
