Warner Bros is moving forward with their live-action big screen version of 'Spy vs Spy' after the recent addition of Ron Howard as director. The film, based on the popular comic strip from Mad Magazine, will be about two spies attempting to "one up" each other, typically ending with one or both being blown up. David Koepp will be producing the film and overseeing the script written by 'Zathura' scribe John Kamps.

While neither the studio or Howard has talked about the aim and focus of the film, the inclusion of Kamps to the mix most likely means that this will be directed at a much younger audience, similar to Howard's 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas'. While obvious comparisons will made to similar plots such as 'Dispicable Me', bringing it into live action might be a solid choice for the franchise, just as long as they don't actually try to make the actor's faces look like their cartoon counterparts.

However, before Howard gears up for spy battles he has a wide array of projects in the works, including a massive re-write with collaborator Brian Grazer and Akiva Goldsman on their 'The Dark Tower' script in an attempt to reduce it's budget drastically for Universal Studios.

at most this can be a comedic animated tv short...like 15-30 mins tops. Besides that, it's like that Battleship movie, pretty much making a movie using the name. it'll have it's own concept, story, blah blah. This is just stupid.

Well, at least it won't be the worst thing to result from MAD magazine (*cough* Seasons 4-14 of MadTV *cough*).

I liked Spy vs Spy but greentea is right, it's just a simple comic strip. It's a quick laugh.
