'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' Trailer and Concept Art

Source: Apple

Yesterday, 20th Century Fox began it's media blitz for 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' - a prequel reboot to their 2001 reboot of 'Planet of the Apes' (yes, the Mark Wahlberg one). Releasing a short teaser first, then a livecast event with WETA digital, finally today we have the full trailer for the film, which is set in modern day and reveals the origins of the Chimpocalypse:

Set in present day San Francisco, "RotPotA" is a "reality-based cautionary tale where mankind's hubris leads to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy". With the help of the uber-brilliant visual effects house WETA Digital (of "Lord of the Rings" and "King Kong" fame), this film marks the first time that the apes will be fully CG instead of actors in monkey suits.

Starring James Franco, and featuring the motion-captured performance of Andy Serkis, 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' arrives in theaters on August 5th.

Resident Evil meets shitty planet of the apes meets deep blue sea meets a write that does a lot of crack

the title is stupid, Planet of The Apes, Rise of The Apes, Apes on Parade, Humans Fuck Up Again

this looks like total shit but its got James Franco thats always a plus

Could be interesting, although the name irks me. Its sounds grammatically incorrect even though it itsn't. Sounds like "the return of the revenge of the son of the bride of Frankenstein" or something ridiculous. Plus planets don't rise, they orbit.

Man, talk about nitpicking

heh Heh stupid fucking scientists testing out shit on 300 pound gorillas.

Test that shit out on rats or something so that if they get really intelligent the worst we'll get is Pinky and The Brain

i just dont like that the apes are full CGI this time around, one thing ive always loved about the series was how well they did with the make-up and costumes for the apes...however, this cannot possibly be a terrible as the awful Mark Wahlberg one, so ill check it out, i just wont have a lot of hype for it

@Abdullah Alhazred
Yes they are. I am a scientist (for real) I've watched morons handle uranium, get it stuck to their shoes and walk out the lab. I'm not even making a joke this actually happened!

@Daniel
Apparently Fox wants the same naming convention as with the previous POTA films, all the films were Something or Other of the Planer of the Apes, but Rise of the Apes would have been smoother!
