Ridley Scott on board to direct Futuristic Monopoly Movie

We now have a possible case of reality imitating art, if you'd like to call it that.

Remember that Robot Chicken sketch where they were doing movie previews based off of board games? When they turned Hungry Hungry Hippos into an action flick and Chutes and Ladders into a buddy cop comedy? Well, when I heard this on the radio from a morning show that was talking movie rumors, I had to find out if it was real.

I'm sure some Spillios had reported on it, but there is now going to be...

...a Monopoly movie.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ridley Scott is now officially on board and is planning on giving it a "futuristic sheen along the lines of his iconic "Blade Runner." Pamela Pettler is writing the screenplay while Giannina Facio and Hasbro's Brian Goldner are "also rpoducing the movie which will shape a narrative out of the iconic real-estate game"

Now I know that Hasbro is trying to develop their properties for movies, and I'm amazed that Ouija Board and Battleship are also in development, and while I'm open to the possibvility of having one of these movies surprise me....they want to give Monopoly a Blade Runner look.

Is anyone else looking forward to Mister Moneybags as the successor to Harrison taking out replicants on Boardwalk and Park Place? *lame joke* XD
