Reynolds Shares His Hopes for a Deadpool Movie

Source: MTV

MTV recently sat down with X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds and asked him how he felt about doing a spin-off film on his character Deadpool.

Reynolds joked, “I’m thinking musical — Rated ‘R’ musical. It hasn’t been done. Deadpool singing, dancing…dancing girls…”

Putting all jokes aside, Reynolds does think the movie is possible, but only if the right people are involved:

“Is it a fractured narrative, does it take place in the present, future and past — I feel like that’s the way to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie. You definitely have to break the fourth wall and you have to find a way to make that make sense, which is no small feat. So it would involve a really talented writer, an amazing visionary director and I think a great collaboration between everybody passionate about this character.”

In addition to a great team, Reynolds added that he has no interest in making a spin-off film unless the entire creative team is on board with making a very faithful adaptation of the character:

“I’ve made no secret about my desire to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie, but if you’re going to do it, it would have to be 100% faithful to its origins. To stay as true to the source material as possible is the only way to do it, and I say that because there’s nothing more interesting than the source material for Deadpool. There’s no reason to deviate from that.”

I would love to see this, especially if they stay true to the source material.

And for everyone's information, they haven't destroyed the Deadpool character yet. In one of the secret endings of Wolverine, they show the real Wade Wilson walking through the plant, where he finds the head of Weapon XI, so that wasn't the real Deadpool.

You fans will hate me for this but...... a Deadpool movie
wont f#%king work, just like the Venom spinoff probobly won't work
I'd rather see an X4: Age of the Apocolypse.- now that would be awesome.
Fox wouldn't be making spinoffs if Brett Ratner hadn't destroyed the X-Men franschise.

"...stay True to his origins..."

No spin-off. Which means he doesn't want the version of Deadpool from the Wolverine movie. Which also means that he thinks that versions sucks. If anyone has seen the leaked movie, you'll understand why. Lol.

It's amazing how many actors and actresses wanna stay true to the source material... until they realize they wanna get paid more.

I just threw up in my mouth a little...brb

This is why I love this guy, an actor who actually gives a crap about their character, how they are adapted and wants to stay faithful to the source material. Good stuff my man, which is why you are one of my favorite actors and I hope you get to do the The Flash one day as well.

Good boy Ryan Reynolds. You're officially on my list of actors I respect. Congratulations! If they ever do a Deadpool movie...I'm sure it'll be great thanks to you.
