Reynolds Shares His Hopes for a Deadpool Movie

Source: MTV

MTV recently sat down with X-Men Origins: Wolverine co-star Ryan Reynolds and asked him how he felt about doing a spin-off film on his character Deadpool.

Reynolds joked, “I’m thinking musical — Rated ‘R’ musical. It hasn’t been done. Deadpool singing, dancing…dancing girls…”

Putting all jokes aside, Reynolds does think the movie is possible, but only if the right people are involved:

“Is it a fractured narrative, does it take place in the present, future and past — I feel like that’s the way to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie. You definitely have to break the fourth wall and you have to find a way to make that make sense, which is no small feat. So it would involve a really talented writer, an amazing visionary director and I think a great collaboration between everybody passionate about this character.”

In addition to a great team, Reynolds added that he has no interest in making a spin-off film unless the entire creative team is on board with making a very faithful adaptation of the character:

“I’ve made no secret about my desire to do a ‘Deadpool’ movie, but if you’re going to do it, it would have to be 100% faithful to its origins. To stay as true to the source material as possible is the only way to do it, and I say that because there’s nothing more interesting than the source material for Deadpool. There’s no reason to deviate from that.”

I agree w/Gift of the Magi we gotta keep in mind that origin stories are hard to do anyway. Honestly if anything they could do a young x-men movie for characters like Colossus & Iceman, Rogue, Archangel etc. But doing a strict Deadpool movie I don't see it happening

The real question is....will Reynolds have any true say over a Deadpool movie and how it is made?

I have serious doubts.

I can honestly say that I don't know much about the Deadpool character (I haven't read his specific comics, but liked him in the X-Men ones he was in...and also in the X-Men/Marvel Alliance games) but he is really cool b/c of not only his abilities, but his smart-ass attitude (like John McClane kind of) and b/c he uses fucking swords and guns!

I think it would be cool to see him in a movie, but from what I hear, not one done by the a-holes at Fox and Friends.
