I agree that complaining about standard shooter tropes is somewhat silly, but your cry of "Who cares if a game is innovative!?" is fucking stupid. Without innovation, genres become stale. And when they become stale, they are no longer fun. Hence why we care about innovation.

 

And your claim that video games have never reached the point where they can compare to films shows how sophomoric you are when it comes to video games as a storytelling medium.

No there isn't. Right now I think the crew said they would be working on another review we did. Unless there is huge demand for this particular review to be animated I doubt it's gonna happen

Is it a great shooter..yup..cool guns..yup...good graphics..yup. This is not a movie..

I have to be honest: I'm once again getting a bit tired of hearing you complain about shooters. I still don't know what the hell you want out of them. Hearing Korey describing two of the weapons in the game as a shotgun and a sniper rifle as something detrimental was downright painful. Yeah, it's a shooter. It kinda makes sense for those weapons to be there. There's a shotgun in Half-Life 2 as well, but I don't hear anyone complaining about that, because that game can't be criticized. Why do you think that every game needs to be innovative? What makes the gameplay here so weak?! I don't get it! It has a health bar and the ability to carry more than two weapons, isn't that innovative when compared to most shooters today?

 

Who cares if a game is innovative? Who cares if it's similar to other games of the same fucking genre? Is it fun? Is it entertaining? Does it make you feel anything? Yeah, I know that you said that this game was indeed fun, but seriously, this particular nitpick is really starting to piss me off.Why can't we just accept that we have reached a point in history where literally everything has been done before, and we're just tweaking things now? If something isn't broken, why try to fix it?

 

I'm telling you: if you guys deem Battlefield 3 to be an only rental-worthy game because its story might be weak, then I think I might be done with your videogame reviews, permanently.

 

Also, 95 % of videogame stories aren't really good, and those that are, cannot match up to the stories of most great movies. Just putting it out there. Videogames have always been crippled when it comes to storytelling.
