Comment by Cman5000 on March 22, 2012 at 3:00pm even with half the budget cut The Walking Dead is still amazing, so just imagine if they had that other half back. It's like AMC is giving us fans a jient middle finger!
Comment by Mr.Dandy on March 22, 2012 at 2:49pm Good show guys, nice divergent opinions! But wow Peter: Rock Monster "yes" and Descendants "no"? Backing away... slowly... no eye contact...
Naw seriously I have to agree with Cyrus 100% on Descendants, it's not one of those films that is diminished in any way by narratives. It's fine to VO a tiny bit of crucial family history at the top of the show, far preferable to leaving us guessing, or worse using some kind of forced expo device (like Clooney's character explaining it all to a new assistant or giving an interview). Some films get away with extensive VO and still work... Fight Club, American Beauty, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Clockwork Orange, Casino, Goodfellas, Trainspotting. While sometimes narrative gets heavy-handed and drags the movie down (Dark Crystal, Blade Runner TC), Descendants seemed just about right to me.
**SPOILER-ISH**
Also I can't agree the land sale subplot was forced. The father's career was a driving catalyst to almost everything that happens in the story both onscreen and before: the way the kids are, the mom's whole situation, the father's guilt about it all, and even the entanglement with Matt Lillard's character. It's arguably why they're all there in that predicament, and the land deal would be a token of his releasing that burden... but to the detriment of the community. And that ending shot (which unlike so many other movies has NO narration) and shows the family's resolution about as perfectly as I can imagine.

Comment by Boatloads1017 on March 22, 2012 at 10:58am I actually kind of liked Young Adult. I'm not gonna deny it's Jason Reitman's "worst" film so far, but that's like saying Shutter Island was Martin Scorsese's worst. Not the best, but it's better than half the shit that comes out.

Comment by ChristianDB on March 22, 2012 at 9:32am Anyone else getting a playback error on an android device? I've downloaded it from rss feeds, as i always do but this episode doesn't want to play. every other review and podcast does. Should I wait for the itunes?
Comment by Herman Cain on March 22, 2012 at 4:11am I love the part 1 of neverland but the part 2 was so inconsistent. Hook didn't seem like he gave a fuck about peter long before the time where he turned to hating him, there was no reason given for this. The writer just decided that all the characterisation he built up in part 1 where Hook had genuine affection for peter and the lost boys just wasn't needed any more.
Comment by ScottPilgrimJDP on March 22, 2012 at 12:49am So glad to hear another person agree with the common decision that Michelle Williams should have gotten Best Actress.
Comment by Santos on March 21, 2012 at 11:12pm Game of Thrones has so much sex in it that borders on being pornographic. There's a scene where two female prostitutes are vigorously practicing on each other while their employer (a great Aiden Gillen) explains his motivations to them, as if they're really listening to him at that point.
Comment by Taft Miller on March 21, 2012 at 10:14pm @ Tommy I loved Young Adult as well. Same reason you did in that it was so engaging. You are not alone sir haha!
