DevilishlyHandsome49 posted a statusLots of REALLY great stuff reviewed on blu-ray and dvd this week (and one film that may be the worst of 2012...and no, it's not Twilight). Oh, and the chance to win the first season of one of our favorite new tv series. Check it...

As a little Chinese girl with a lack of role models to identify with in age-appropriate children's media, I loved Mulan and the fact that Lea Salonga provides her singing voice. But even then I thought there was something borderline racist about it. Mulan 2 isn't great but for a direct to DVD sequel it's fine. It has the Pocahontas 2 issue of trying to tackle issues in the romance and overall plot that maybe should be left out of a children's movie or executed with a little more grace. Also, the songs aren't as good.
I did not love the first Hunchback of Notre Dame movie when it first came out but I can appreciate the score now. I mean Stephen Schwartz and Alan Menken? I think I saw part of the sequel as a child but it was so bad I couldn't get though it.
Comment by Kelly on March 24, 2013 at 8:45pm The Hunchback of Notre Dame sequel is awful, skip it. Saw a tiny bit of the Mulan one. The production looks nice but the premise struck me as condescending, but I can't confirm since I didn't see the whole thing. Something about Mulan having to escort a few princesses to an arranged marriage and telling them to marry for love instead.
Aladdin had 2 sequels, the third movie was the finale to the tv series. Production is terrible in the 3rd one, but I liked the story, get to see Aladdin's dad and it had a pretty good ending. I like how the sequels progress the story and do something new instead of retreading what happened in the original movie.

Yeah, right there with you - I'd rather watch an honest behind the scenes featurette like The Incredibles making of, where you see people have heated disagreements over creative decisions and work their asses off, rather than watching the filmmakers riding scooters through corridors while licking lollipops going "Hey! Wanna see how animations are made?!"

Comment by Absinthe Minded on March 20, 2013 at 10:05pm Thank you, Cyrus and Brian, for yet another great Remote Viewing!
I haven't seen either film but your description of Ed Gein in Hitchcock reminds me of the hallucination in The Iron Lady. So is this a thing now?
