With his thin frame and extreme height Spanish actor Javier Botet has brought some of the most bizarre and nightmarish creatures to cinematic life. Perhaps his monster best known to Americans is that of the Madeiros girl featured at the end of the Spanish cult horror film 'REC'. Who wasn't freaked out as they watched through a night vision lens this abomination lumber out of the murky darkness of a creepy attic - wearing panties?! How many guys witnessed this disturbing visual stumbling out of their bathroom after a hard drunken night of partying? Like I said, nightmarish.

Javier's unusual physicality has brought a realism to effects normally reserved these days for CG. This year for Fantastic Fest he arrived to attend the premiere of 'REC 2' as well as to watch a friend's short film. As if he wasn't busy enough he kindly took the time to sit and talk with us about not only being a now famous monster but also to discuss his future as an actor and his new found fame - especially with the ladies.

And when you're done listening to the interview treat yourself to a few bad dreams by watching the videos below featuring Javier's work in 'REC' and 'Below Still Waters'.

This is going to be exciting, I really loved both Rec and Quarantine, though Quarantine was slightly better and I look forward to see the sequel, I also wonder where it'll be shot... I mean what's more scary then a quarantined building with "zombies"?

I cannot wait for this one, I hope 3 is an all out war in Madrid with a few survivors.

And a message to the people who made the REC films:-

Viva Espana hasta la ultima cota de sangra para la bandera Espanol y en la lucha contra los zombies !

Mixtape: Thanks for letting us know it's on youtube. Nothing better than a free movie :) REC is scary as fuck! My chest is still pounding. It's even scarier at 3:00am when you're all by yourself.
