great review, please talk about other cop thrillers that you recommend, please rank the current movie against that last 10 movies of this type, you guys have seen way more movies than me so feel free to say, this was better than x but not as good as y, and as good as z, or a better movie from the 70s is a and from the 80s is b and from 90s is c, thank you and love your pod casts for my long business trips, and thank you for recommending shield tv show

"Not born that way, but by choice lesbians"

That is not how it works, Leon.

I'm really interested about Leon's strong distrust of cops. I mean I'm not a cop white knight but I just think of them as human beings. Human beings with power. Race aside, look at the TSA, that little authority makes flying almost unbearable.  Until we have robots telling us what to do, there are gonna be bad cops out there but "most of them" being corrupt is a bit of a hyperbole statement

Is something wrong with the audio or is Cyrus pausing a lot at really odd times?  Gas bubble?

Sounds like the Shield to me. Almost a movie copy.

December 22, 2011. Boom, beat y'all too the punch! Granted, I got a review of "We Bought a Zoo" up first, but this time, I remembered to put a comment down about that. Anyways, good review guys.

The Messenger was my favorite film of 2009. Ben Foster should have AT LEAST got a best actor nod for his performance. And this is Oren Moverman's second directed feature with a sizable number of returning actors from that film. I will no doubt go run out and see this, and I suspect I might really like it as well.

This is truly a great review, I never even heard of this movie, but it sounds great. I'm like Leon in, I don't like cops either but love this dirty cop films, so this sounds right up my alley.

Glad to see this review up! The trailer left me unimpressed. Sounds like it was about what I expected. A piece of shit feeling sorry himself when judgement comes around.

The Shield is one of my top 5 shows of all time. And I often wonder why I like (most) of The Strike Team. They are bad guys. I don't think the family stuff is a part of it. Vic was rarely portrayed in family situations, and when he was, he wasn't a super husband/dad. I think it was the great depiction of the relationship between the Strike Team guys, they were like brothers. It made the many betrayals harder to watch. And Vic may have been greedy when it came to money and protecting himself, but there were so many moments where you could tell that he really cared about his job. Saving kids, crying, beating stuff up because someone died. It gave him humanity you could get behind.

Also, The Shield was based on Rampart, and they were going to originally call the show that, but legal issues stopped them. They also were told by the LAPD they could not portray LA cops on the show. So they invented Farmington, and even had to wear the badges on the wrong side of their shirts.
