Raise Your Hand If You're Excited for Prom Night Director's Return to Horror...Anybody?

I applaud Tessa for posting her 20 Horror Clichés That Will Not Die blog only day prior to Screen Gems releasing the trailer for their next blunder-to be in the horror remake genre. Strange coincidence seeing that director Nelson McCormick's last project, Prom Night, applies itself to nineteen of said clichés.

If you ask me, Stepfather looks like a budgetless, reenactment of Disturbia made by a hurried slacker one day into film school. So far, these are the resemblances I've got: the rebellious teenager trying to get his elder's murderous history exposed. The supposed villain trying to become romatically involved with the protagonist's mother. There's always the harmless confrontation between him and the girlfriend where he tries to shake her up in efforts to stop investigating him. And a climax taking place in a dimly lit basement where the lead is readily armed with a flashlight and crowbar (okay, maybe not). Still, you can't help watching this trailer without asking questions like "why is that power saw convenientally encircling that girl", "why isn't that girl under the power saw rolling over to get away" and "why would you kill the same neighbor who brought to your family's attention how much you look like a wanted criminal and leave everyone under the impression its a coincidence?". Maybe it's just me but I'll most likely be saving my money for Where the Wild Things Are in October.

But hey, if you're a devoted fan to gold such as Obsessed, When A Stranger Calls, The Messengers or Anacondas, no one's holding you back from a giving a shot to this potential...uh, gem.

Another ASS-ic from the geniuses at Screen Gems, man, why can't they make another good comedy like Fired Up! which surprised me at how funny it was.

Well, it's sort of sad that a Remake of a horror movie has to resort to a Remake of a song to use in it's trailer. I smell shit in the theaters soon.

Matt, Jack & Jon are three eloquent young gents. They philosophize, externalize, and harmonize on the most pressing subjects of the modern age. Actually, they mostly just talk about movies and current events, but the presentation is what counts.
