Hot Bloody Murder! It's time for some Uncharted 3 news! It appears that last week's Game Developers Conference brought us a brand new look at some truly tantalizing story details from Uncharted 3. Take a look at a brand new foe, Ms. Katherine Marlowe:
Please Helen Mirren! Not in the face!
Just. Freaking. Awesome. One of the things that I've always felt has pushed the Uncharted series leaps and bounds above other third person action titles is the superb storytelling and wonderfully emotive characters. There are moments in both of the previous games where you can tell what a character is thinking or planning just by a slight change in the expression on their face or cocked eyebrow. Take this tiny little piece of story for example. I feel more interested and connected to this little tidbit than I would have with a hundred gameplay trailers of things blowing up.
For those of you who haven't been following it, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is a bit light on the story details at the moment. What we do know is that once again Nathan Drake and Victor Sullivan will be bouncing around the world doing the action hero archeologist thing in search of the legendary lost city, the Iram of Pillars. Much of the plot will be based on the writings of T.E. Lawrence, Mr. 'of Arabia' himself. From the few gameplay snippets that have been released, we've seen that having perfected rain and snow, Naughty Dog will be lending their fine work to fire and sand this time around. But hopefully, if this new trailer is any indication we'll be getting a little bit more insight on Nathan Drake's past and his connection to Sir Francis.
All in all, this trailer has not helped one bit in my desire to launch a ninja assault on Naughty Dog's headquarters to get my hands on this game. I remember trying to explain how awesome Uncharted looked back when it was called 'Untitled Naughty Dog Project' on the PS3's first E3 demo reel. Now if we could just get the feature film sorted out ....
... dammit.

Comment by CHEEZYSPAM on March 9, 2011 at 8:12am I've always loved the Uncharted games up until their 3rd acts... 1st had crazy zombie monsters that came out of nowhere and didn't fit the rest of the story and then the 2nd had mythical blue hulk like amazon creatures... It just takes me completely out of the game.
One minute an awesome treasure hunting action adventure, the next a science fiction monster chase. At least I can expect to love at least 2/3 of U3...
