Movie Review:
Post Grad
Author:
Leon

The star of the movie, Alexis Bledel, who looks like the very whitest of white girls is actually anything but. Her parents' nationalities are Nanette, Mexican and Martin, Argentinian (her father's family were Danish immigrants to Argentina; her ethnic background includes Danish, French, German and Spanish. Her first language is Spanish. She learned English in school.
There,
that’s it.
That is the most interesting thing I can say about
Post Grad. Other than it is the perfect example of the kind of movie that gives romantic comedies a bad rep. It doesn’t strive to be anything but “cute” and features a protagonist who would be widely considered self-centered and a dip-shit in the real world. You can blame it on naivete that she truly believed she’d waltz into the job of her dreams right after graduating from college, but the way she quits any job that requires real work and strings along her male best friend who’s had a crush on her for FOUR YEARS are unforgivable. Even more unforgivable is that the even though the movie is populated by a good amount of respectable character actors (Michael Keaton, Jane Lynch, J.K. Simmons, etc.) there’s only one funny line in the entire flick. And even that was probably only because it was delivered by one of the greatest comediennes of all-time, Carol Burnet. Really, this whole effort was a waste of these people’s time.
This is the kind of low level movie that I would normally ignore except at the end the main character makes a decision that makes no sense and is possibly the most anti-feminist statement I’ve seen in a long time. It wasn’t enough to just suck; it sends a bad message too. So, I have a bad response to send back:
RATING: Some ole Bullshit
What did the rest of the crew think?
Cyrus: Some ole Bullshit
Carlyle: Some ole Bullshit
Korey: Rental
