Blue Sky Disney has announced that Pixar has finally given the greenlight to director Pete Docter to work on a Monsters, Inc. sequel.

There is a catch, however, as Docter and Disney-Pixar have not officially announced the project, most likely because of his current Pixar project, Up, which has yet to be complete.

There are no other details about the sequel except that it will be slated for 2013 and that Docter has been working on this sequel for a while.

Monsters Inc. is the best Pixar movie in my opinion. The Incredibles, while good, was not any where as entertaining as Mike and Sulley. Billy Crystal and John Goodman were the best. Nemo was as gay as it gets.

It really wouldn't make sense for a Finding Nemo 2, and a sequel would just be retarded. What would the title be? Finding Nemo Again? Or Looking for Nemo? Dame.

Why don't they just make an Incredibles sequel already. The Incredibles needs one more than Monsters Inc. What could the plot possibly be for this one? I am looking forward to Cars 2 as well as Toy Story 3, which should both be on par with pixar's finest. So we basically have: UP this summer, Toy Story 3 next summer, then Cars 2 and The Bear and the Bow in 2011, then newt in 2012, and finally Monsters inc, 2 in 2013. NICE.

I didn't know Monsters Inc was popular enough to have a sequel, as far as I know there's still Toy Story merchindise being sold, and Cars stuff is everywhere, Incredibles and Finding Nemo would have seemed more likely for sequels.
But I loved the fuck out of Monsters Inc, I'd love to see a sequel.

As much as I know everyone loved The Incredibles, I have to say my personal favorite Pixar is definately Ratatouille. A sequel would be nice, but I wouldn't mind something in the same vein- something with a story that's a little bit more...small-scale, if that makes any sense.
