Personal Favorite Trailers of 2010, the year we didn't make contact

10.

Devil

Not for the trailer itself and really just for the reactions it received. This got the funniest reactions from audiences I’ve ever heard. I couldn’t see this once in theater without a large portion of the audience groaning or laughing. I even heard one guy yell “Oh God, No!” I kid you not.

9.

Green Hornet

Apparently there’s a party going down at the Casa de Brit and you should bring all your friends as long as they are chicks. I had little to no knowledge on this franchise before seeing this and it brought me up to speed
about everything this movie has to offer . It looks fun,
hilarious, and they’ll do it much better justice to its fanbase than another certain green superhero probably will.

8.

Morning Glory

Rachel Mcadams booty makes every straight man snaps to attention at 1:16. If there were an Oscar for it, "Best use of sex appeal to sell a movie" would have to go to this.

7.

The Kids are Alright

Great trailer that really sells the movie with its humor and interesting set up. I usually don’t see movies like this but the trailer made me want to give it a chance.I found this to be a genuinely charming and funny trailer that looked like it was different enough from all the other films in the genre.

6.

True Grit

Honestly, the trailer could have totally sucked and I still would have peed my pants in excitement over this movie. A Coen Brothers western, with Jeff Bridges, AND it’s a remake of a classic John Wayne Western? Whose dick do I have to suck to see this movie early?. Fortunately this trailer was all kinds of awesome and the foreboding
mood with the Johnny Cash. Well done.

5.

Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps (stupidest title of 2010)

Good music choice can mean everything when selling a movie. Just like how we didn’t get any Arcade Fire in “Where the Wild Things Are” last year, we didn’t get any Stones in  “Wall Street 2”. Why use the same song
to advertise a movie when you don’t even use it once in the actual film?
Sympathy is the perfect theme for Gordon Gecko. Not only did seeing this trailer send me into an obsessive Stones phase, it motivated me to see the
original just in time so I could see this new one and be totally disappointed. The
dominoes and bubbles were a bit much Mr. Stone….

4.

Inception

It answered some questions about what the plot of the movie is like but much like an episode of Lost it still leaves plenty of mystery shrouding its plot. The shot of the wall of city rising up 90 degrees to me has got
to be one of the most iconic special effect shots of the year and its used to
great effect. Hans Zimmer’s soundtrack is perfect in setting the mood and isn’t Leo just dreamy? I’m sure I’ll get plenty of crap for not putting this even
higher but it’s my list, and I think there’s better to come.

3.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Okay, so it turns out a lot of the trailer is really from Part 2, but c’mon… it’s a pretty jaw-dropping trailer. It’s the first genuine look into a series that’s kept millions captivated for
going on 10 years worldwide. It did just what it needed to do, get everyone
pumped for an ending that has high expectations to live up to.

2.

Battle Los Angeles

That music. Oh good lord is that music haunting. The best kinds of trailers in my righteous opinion are the ones that can say everything they need to without using a single line of dialogue. I don’t expect Battle LA to
be anything new or groundbreaking, (hopefully it will at least top
“Independence Day”) but man did this trailer take my interest from 0 to 60 in
only 2 minutes and 7 seconds.

1.

The Social Network

Without a doubt the best trailer for any movie this year. It hits all the right emotions and themes when showcasing a movie: friendship lost, betrayal, a girl hitting the bed, a shameless ass shot of girl wandering
around in Stanford panties, powerful lines and delivery, those beginning
Facebook pictures that could easily belong to anyone. It relates to the
audience and then sucks you in with its eerie music, emphasis on the characters
and dialogue, it definitely peaked my interest more than any other trailer this
year.

I actually hate to be the fanboy here, but inception had the best trailer of the year by far and only social network even came close.

Zimmer actually didn't do the score for the trailer, I believe the guy's name was like Zack Hemsey or something like that.

Anyway, it was a trailer that had tons of money shots, great music, emotion and some pretty memorable lines like'Musn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling"

Overall, perhaps one of the greatest trailers of all time.

"You don't get to 500 million friends... without making a few enemies," thats a brilliant line to sum up this movie easliy the best trailer i've seen for years. Great list, although black swan, 127 hours and tron legacy trailer 2 were also pretty amazing.

Perfect list but I agree with Cali, honorable mentions for 127 Hours, Black Swan, and Cowboys & Aliens.

Thanks for the support guys

Black Swan, 127 Hours, and Cowboys and Aliens would have been 11, 12, and 13.

My number one would be Black Swan.

This is a great top 10.

I want to be mad that you left something out, but can't.

Good job.

If I could add one more trailer to that list it would be 127 hours. Even the 3 minute preview is powerful and the song The Funeral by band of horses has never been so well utilized.

Great list
