Looking at that objectively James, I'd say that's outright racism (the way that you yourself concluded). The absurdity lies in the semantics of calling it "reverse racism" due to demography. Racism is defined as discrimination of another person because one finds them inferior due to their nationality, ethnicity, etc. Your example is most definitely racist because of its nature. I'll even concede that, by your definition, it's "reverse racism" as well. Counter-hegemony aside though, I feel it's not different (it's like a crime and a hate crime). It's still hate without consideration of an individual's character. If I was a Black man that hated all White people with a malice because I felt I'd been oppressed by them, I'd still be racist and not a reverse racist.

No such thing as reverse racism Xa Lor? What if a Japanese guy went to China and savagely beat a Chinese pedestrian purely because he didn't like Chinese people? The Japanese guy would be the minority in that situation...so does that mean he wouldn't be being a racist?

 

On the issue of a mixed race spider man, I don't mind it, but I don't consider that guy 'Spider Man', he's just a guy in a Spider Man suit, the real Spider Man, in my mind, is Peter Parker, his personality, appearance, characteristics etc....

I absolutely agree with you Xa Lor. The term "reverse racism" has always been just asinine to me. Ethnic prejudice is still just "racism" despite the biggoted party. We actually got into it about that before but, on this night, I felt it wasn't integral to the matter at hand (specifying on comics culture).

There is no such thing as reverse racism, why because on a large scale the majority are the racists, while the minority have no power to affect any type of social change, that is why they are called the minority.

Great show guys. Colored people are always used to market 'cool' things to the younger generations. I wonder if black spider-man will be made to play basketball for his high school team or maybe a wide receiver for the football team. Lol, I can see it now. An issuse with him as spider-man playing basketball with Kobe or LeBron James. Don't do it Marvel, nooooooo.
