Official Title & Plot For 'Muppets' Sequel Revealed

Things have already gotten started on the sequel to 'The Muppets,' and today we move one step closer to hitting the music and lighting the lights. The title, and a snippet of the plot, for the the followup to the 2011 return of our beloved felt-covered friends has just been revealed. The movie will be called 'The Muppets...Again.' The story will revolve around the Muppets as they are enjoying their world tour, which is interrupted when they cross paths with a master thief named Constantine. Constantine is aiming to steal a massive diamond, and just happens to look exactly like KermitJames Bobin will be returning to direct, noting in an interview, "I always loved those classic jewel-heist capers from the ’60s and ’70s, so I was very keen to do a movie that had elements of that [genre] featuring the Muppets and comedy and songs." Jason Segel, who co-wrote and starred in 'The Muppets,' has departed, but Nicholas Stoller remains and penned the script with director Bobbin. 'The Muppets...Again,' which will be released March 21st, 2014, stars Ricky Gervais as Constantine's sidekick, Tina Fey as a Russian prison guard, and Ty Burrell as an Interpol agent.

So that whole rumor about the new film centering on a caper, that turned out to be 100% accurate. I love the idea of revisiting 'The Great Muppet Caper' territory as opposed to yet another "we've got to put on a show" story. I'm also very interested to see how they design this Constantine puppet to resemble Kermit. Given that he's supposed to be a suave professional thief, it's unlikely that Constantine will be just another oafish Moopet. Unfortunately, not all the news here is good news. While I'm totally sold on the plot, that title is about as bland as bland can be. I mean, it's as if they took some Muppet detractor's response at there being another movie on the way and made it the official title. "Really? Muppets again?" My hope is that sometime between now and next March, somebody comes up with something better.

What do you guys think? Do you like the title 'The Muppets...Again?' How do you feel about the caper-centric plot?

The title of this movie is as strange as Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 The Squeakquel.

This sounds awesome.

That could easily be a working title - but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't.

I totally forgot about The Moopets, they were great :-P

All i care about is....is Bret McKenzie (from Flight of the Conchords) back to writing original songs for this one? Because his songs made the last movie for me.

When I was a child, The Caper was my favorite Muppet movie. As I've gotten older, my tastes have shifted to The Muppet Movie, but I still have nostalgia for it.

I would have preferred if they kept the 2.
