Well I guess my digital footprint makes more sense from here on now aside from random ass blaberings every now and again. Now I'm just kind of getting into this and launching my own blog for podcasts which I'll also post here, but that one is a relaunch. Mainly, the spill community kind of broke me out of my shell I was in from a while back. I've always been somewhat reluctant to post on sites and blogs and similar places. I mean I do follow IGN and certain sports podcasts and so on, but at the same time they've never had a community that I was ever open towards, something I could dig and actually see putting time and effort into, let's hope I'm somewhat more open towards this than anything.
Now, for the written posts, just because I can't be bothered to write a lot I will usually do like two-three a week just to kind of get my stuff out there, voice an opinion about something quick in the week/going ons in the world. For the other bit of this, and I'll try to do this about once a week, I'll try to sound off for a reasonable amount of time in an actual podcast type recording. Now, I am doing this on my own so it won't be quite entertaining as the Spill Crew, but at the same time I've been doing this for about two years now for the school radio and they sensor me and people still tune in so, you know, give it a chance. Anyways, without further delay....
This Weeks Releases DVD/CD
Now I got a few things to talk about right of the bat. I was going to throw in games in here, but I haven't had a chance to pick up Tron yet to see it through, and I kind of want to see the movie first anyways. Also, this is basically one paragraph sound offs with more coming in the actual audio file later down the week where I'll try to elaborate my opinions, probably with a little less eloquence on the fly...
The big one for this week is Inception, and that's the movie I watched twice in theaters and will probably give another run through on BluRay. Now, I have better shit to do with my life than just watch it multiple times, well trying to graduate and shoot a short this winter, but its a must. Christopher Nolan, I find, has really developed into the director whose narratives you want to see through to the end. He likes throwing curve balls too, in many cases with an unreliable narrator, or a clever twist. Inception is one of the former, I won't spoil it for those few who haven't seen, but there is a point in the movie after which you, if you're a conscious viewer must doubt everything that happens from there on. And that's just one of those few things that you go back and re-watch and try to figure things out, look for clues, so that's what I'll be doing. Overall, I really liked the movie, I think it was one of the better releases of the year. The big thing for me with it, was Joseph Gordon Levitt, whom I'd be ready to cast as anything and anyone from this point. We've see 500 Days of Summer, we've seen Alpha Dog, and the Lookout, but now he's in this action role too... The dude's got skills, I mean, I bet you can remake Godzilla, just have him stomping cardboard cities and he'll still pull this off. I'll expand on this in the audio once again, mostly because I feel like people would hate reading long posts and listening they can do in the periphery.
The other big one is Shrek... what the hell is the number for that? I think 4? I was somewhat excited for the second one, and I will definitely see this one, but the novelty wore out around halfway through 2. They still have the moments of brilliance, that satire that kind of comes through and modern parody, but at this point there are better things out there. That said, I haven't seen it, maybe its every bit as good as some people said, but for me, it's going to be hard to top Despicable Me and How To Train Your Dragon this year... Those were great, took my little niece to see both, very enjoyable even for adults I'd say.
Moving on to CDs, we've got T.I. coming out with another album, and it's gotten to the point where he's like a surrogate version of 2Pac, only 2pac was dead, T.I.'s just in jail. I've heard the album at work today, and it's not bad, definitely better than some of the stuff out there, the Kanye West and Kid CuDi tracks were standouts, but outside of that, it's nothing we haven't really heard before. My main gripe here is with him going back to jail. Everyone understands that to be a rapper you have to have street credibility, but its gotten to the point where you're making millions you still carry guns? Who near your villa is packing?!! That grandma with the cats? Look, I'm all prop maintaining the image, but the best selling rap album this year comes from a guy who works with Louis Vuitton and has a studio in Hawaii, how gangsta' is that? I think its time for the whole industry to grow up and adjust, I'm just waiting for the Lupe album sometime next year....
In a few other short news that I will definitely bitch about in the podcast... Kanye's album is actually quite amazing, Cee-Lo is back kids so don't sleep, and Justin Bieber has an acoustic album? This shit is bananas, and not in a good way... Well, until next time, and you will hear from me (no pun intended) soon enough....
