New Trailers for 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' and '50/50'

Source: Empire

The first chilling trailer for 'Don't Be Afraid of the Dark' has found it's way to the internet. Originally a 1973 ABC Movie of the Week, horror fan-favorite Guillermo Del Toro scribed the remake of the cult classic, which is also the directorial debut for comic book artist and writer Troy Nixey. Bailee Madison stars as a young girl who is sent to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in a sprawling old estate. In the dust-covered lower levels of the home - undisturbed for nearly a century - the little girl discovers and accidentally releases a horde of nightmarish creatures and the only way to save her family is to convince her skeptical father that the monsters are real. The horror thriller will be in theaters on August 26th.

Inspired by his personal experiences while overcoming a serious disease, the Will Reiser written '50/50' stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen as best friends whose lives are changed after one is diagnosed with cancer. In addition to starring in the film, Rogen also produced the comedic drama alongside collaborators Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Written as a way to help Reiser come to terms with his situation as well as to showcase some of the more humorous moments in dealing with friends who are ill-equipped to help, '50/50' also stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Anna Kendrick and arrives in theaters on September 30th.

Okay I know that 99% of the time video games based on movies suck, but I think that if they did a simple survivor horror game based on dont be afraid of the dark (like you are the girl with a light trying to escape the house...you have a limited battery which you can increase by picking up other batteries and stuff like that) would be fun

Dont be a Afraid of the dark could be a real scary movie especially with how hollywood now is finally getting the picture that we dont want anymore cheesy slasher teen horror films. 50/50 looks like it could be good be good I love Gordon Levitt he is one our best young actors working today i hope they both end up being good

The dramadey of the year goes to...

The Horror film of the year goes to...

I know the ending already (according to Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphanage.) It will have 2 endings being completelly ambiquous to what happens. WHile one will be happy, the other will be sad.

I personally loved the trailers to BOTH films. They both really pulled me in immediately and got me interested. Can't wait for both films to come out; they both look pretty good!

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark looks like it could have the potential to be pretty scary and having Del Toro is definitely a huge plus, but why the hell did they need to reveal SO FUCKING MUCH in that trailer?  I was really getting into it as soon as the creepy whispering started and then it just......kept........going.  I'll still see it, because i do think it looks good, but these trailers need to stop being so fucking long, it's not a good thing.

And 50/50 looks funny and has a kickass cast.  I'll see it.

@ George Knight - The MPAA has not been a reliable rating system in over 15 years. They're one of the biggest reasons films suck these days.
