Based on the best selling novel by Cormac McCarthy (No Country For Old Men) and starring Viggo Mortensen, Robert Duvall, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce and Kodi Smit-McPhee, the film tells the story of a man and his young son traveling through a desperate, post-apocalyptic world.
The film opens in theaters on November 25, 2009.

From the looks of it, it seems the sun is dying. Thats why the trees are dead and the planet is cold and getting colder. Crops and vegetation cannot grow in extreme cold without the sun so that would explain the crop situation.
